Geosensusis highly specialized for his function as a fuel deposit scout. His job is all he cares about and he has extensively adapted and reconfigured himself for its sake, in the process sacrificing features both physical and emotional that mostTransformerstake for granted. A pacifist, he long ago decided never to be outfitted withweapons, instead covering his body with sensory technology. Asenergongrew scarcer throughout the millennia, he configured himself with scanning and sampling devices requiring such precise calibration and delicate treatment that they had to be permanently fixed into position: thus he could no longertransformand would always be in hisalternate mode,a mobile all-terrain scanning and mining array.
These sacrifices allowed him to help his teammates, but also alienated him from both major Transformer factions. That alienation would cost Geosensus everything.

During his subterranean energon hunts, Geosensus inadvertently discovered the early rallies of theDecepticonarmy as well as their brutalgladiatorial games.Megatronconfronted him and attempted to recruit him, but was disgusted by Geosensus' stated neutrality and unwillingness to transform, and so attempted to kill him. Geosensus survived and was able to warn the Autobots of a looming attack onKaon— while this did not save the city, it won Geosensus the respect ofOptimus Prime.
When theArkdeparted forEarth,Geosensus went along to search for energon — over the protests ofProwl, who thought him a misfit who wouldn't / couldn't bond with the rest of the team. The first to be awakened after the crash, Geosensus went on a solo survey of Earth, enthralled by its natural beauty... until he was attacked by a Decepticon air patrol. Out of self-preservation he transformed into robot mode, fought and killed one of his pursuers, leaving himself horrified after breaking his own moral code. With no time to reflect on it, he ran back to the Ark while being pursued by another Decepticon — at which pointbothof the charging, unfamiliar robots were killed by Optimus Prime and Prowl. Though Prime at first felt shock and guilt, Prowl convinced him that as the Autobots' symbolically perfect leader he did not have the luxury of such emotions and doubts and that it would do vastly more damage to ever admit to the facts. The two swore to secrecy and put a cover story in place, as Prowl recycled Geosensus' remains.Parts
Notes
- Geosensus is described as being huge: in vehicle mode he can barely fit through a door large enough for Optimus Prime, and in robot mode he crushes the attacking Decepticon with a "massive" arm.
- His scanning-mining-array-thingie mode can move its equipment to allow him to express himself with emotive body language.
