Germanyis a country withinEurope,and aNATOmember-state. It had a tough old life in the 20th Century, what with a major war in the 1910s, being overrun byCobraand then, from1945to20111990,being split into the democratic West Germany and theSoviet Unionallied East Germany.
It is bordered byBelgium,theNetherlands,Switz,France,Ciech,Poland,Denmark,Luxembourg,andAustria.
