  • Rodimus Convoy(1986)
    • Accessories:Trailer/Mobile Defense Bay, Photon Eliminator, spoiler, left and right blast shields
Rodimus Prime also had a presence in Kabaya's line of largerTransformers Gummodel kits. Released as part of the line's fifth wave, Rodimus is molded in red, silver and black plastic, lacking in paint applications but featuring stickers for detail. Like many otherTransformers Gummodel kits, Rodimus is very much a downsized version of the regular toy, featuring all its accessories, features and (lack of) articulation. As the name suggests, rather than chocolate, Rodimus came with a stick of gum.

  • Hot Rodimus(2011)
    • ID number:1
Released in the fourth wave of the revivedTransformers Gumseries in 2011, this transforming model kit of Hot Rod is made from red, orange and black plastic, and decorated with quite a few stickers to add his familiar details. Taking its cues fromMasterpieceRodimus Convoy, the figure features an alternate Rodimus Prime head (well, a head with an alternatesticker), and can combine with his fully-transformable Mobile Defense Bay to form Rodimus's vehicle mode. The Defense Bay is assembled by collecting several additional parts available with the three different kits in the wave; its base comes withInferno, its sides and Rodimus's Photon Eliminator come with Hot Rod himself, and its central turret comes withVictory Leo.The vehicle mode replicates the approach used by theMasterpiecefigure, with Hot Rod slotting into the trailer backwards, and an alternate piece featuring Rodimus's shorter hood flips up from underneath the trailer and clips over the car's rear end.

Hybrid model rodimus.jpg
  • Rodimus Convoy(1987)
    • Japanese ID number:H-01
Rodimus Convoy was one of three non-transformingSuper High-Breed Modelvinyl figurines created in 1987 by Takara. Standing at about eight inches tall and featuring articulation in the shoulders and neck, Rodimus and his fellows (GalvatronandArcee) were based on theirStudio OXcharacter models, featuring much more anime-styled proportions and detailing.
For reasons unknown, the retail release of Rodimus and the otherSuper High-Breed Modelfigures was canceled. While Galvatron was eventually released as an exclusive atBotCon Japan 1997,Rodimus and Arcee have never been officially released, though they do occasionally pop up on the secondary market, commanding prices in excess of $600.

Parody Deformed

  • Rodimus Convoy(1990)
    • Accessories:Photon Eliminator
Pdtype rodimus.jpg

MC Axis

Mcaxis hot rod.jpg
  • Hot Rod(model kit, 1996)
    • Accessories:Matrix of Leadership, buzzsaw, welding torch, alternate head, alternate hands-holding-Matrix
This Japanese "garage kit", an unpainted resin model, was made by MC Axis and came with acomic stripstarring Hot Rod. It includes several interchangeable parts based on Hot Rod's antics inThe Transformers: The Movie, including an alternate head featuring the telescopic visor from theLookout Mountainscene, the welding torch he used to repairKupand the buzzsaw from his battles onQuintessa, and two versions of the Matrix of Leadership—one standard, fairly useless one, since his clenched fists are unable to hold it, and one sculpted with a pair of alternate hands holding its handles, allowing Hot Rod to hoist it aloft.
The kit is not known for its exceptional quality control—numerous unsightly air bubbles in the plastic are not an uncommon thing to encounter.
The resin parts needs to be washed first to prevent the paint from smearing off.

Super Collection Figure

SCF Rodimus.jpg
  • Rodimus Convoy(2002)
    • Act:2
    • Accessories:Stand
A three-inch tallPVCfigurine of Rodimus Prime was available in the second "Act" of Takara'sSuper Collection Figureline. Like all the figures in the "act", it was available as both a standard full color figure and a colorless translucent version, one of each of which was available in a standard case of twelveblindpackedfigures.

SCF Rodimus chase.jpg
  • Matrix & Rodimus(2002)
    • Act:2
    • Accessories:Stand
A rare "Secret Figure"of Rodimus Prime was also available in the secondSCFact, molded in translucent colored plastic and holding the Matrix of Leadership in both hands, in the process of opening it.
He waspresumablyreleased at a ratio of one in every ten cases (this has not been officially confirmed, but later Acts would give those odds of finding Secret Figures). It is unknown which -if any specific- toy he replaced in the lucky case, though it's a safe guess it replaced the normal Rodimus figure.

SCF Rodimus B.jpg
  • Rodimus Convoy (B)(2003)
    • Act:4
    • Accessories:Stand
The Matrix-bearing Rodimus chase figure was re-released as a standard figure for the fourthSuper Collection Figurewave, this time as both a standard, solid-color figure and a metallic silver "pewter" version, both available at one each per standard case of twelve.
In eight out of every ten cases, the pewter version of the figure came with the right leg of the wave's collectibleMetroplex"build-a-figure"; this part could be either full-color or clear, at an equal ratio of 4:4.
The pewter version of the figure has a potential problem with connector peg breakage, due to said pegs often getting a layer of pewter paint before being forced into a socket, leading to sticking and tearing. Care should be used when moving or removing the arms; shaving down the socket interior with a thin hobby knife is usually sufficient to fix the issue.

(thumbnail)
Surprisingly extensively retooled.
  • Hot Rodimus(2003)
    • Act:6
    • Accessories:Stand
Regular old Hot Rod made hisSuper Collection Figuredebut in the sixth wave of the series. This version has a new torso piece sporting a non-removable head with the telescopic visor he employed onLookout MountaininThe Transformers: The Movie, and clenched-fist hands to replicate his "gun down the shuttle" pose. Hot Rod was available in both full-color and pewter versions at one each per case. The color version sports a number of minor deco differences from his Rodimus iterations, most notably a more peach-colored orange base plastic and gloss-black boots rather than matte. Sadly, they did not change the burgundy to a more screen-accurate magenta.
In eight out of every ten cases, the pewter Hot Rod came with the torso of the wave'sGrand Maximuscollectible figure. This part could be in either full color or pewter, at aseverelyunequal ratio of six color parts to every two pewters.

Heroes of Cybertron

  • Rodimus Prime(2003/2006)
When Hasbro released theSuper Collection Figureline asHeroes of Cybertron, the original Rodimus Prime figure was released as part of the fourth wave, now featuring alight-pipinggimmick in the character's eyes, accomplished by casting the figure in translucent blue plastic and then painting over it.
Rather than come blindpacked like theSCFfigure, Rodimus came on a blister card with a profile card included.
Rodimus was re-released in 2006 as part of a short-livedHeroes of Cybertronrevival, celebrating the 2006 DVD release of the originalThe Transformers: The Movie, this time cast in solid rather than translucent plastic. Rodimus has a number of minor paint differences between this and his priorHeroesrelease as well: he only has a single shade of bright red, most of his light gray paint has been replaced with white, and his arm-pipes are now metallic silver.

Mega Super Collection Figure

  • Hot Rodimus(2002)
    MegaSCFRodimus.jpg
    • Japanese ID number:Mega SCF-04
    • Accessories:Left and right open hands, left and right fists, head w/ visor, Matrix of Leadership, buzzsaw, welding torch
A five-inch tall, non-transforming highly-articulated PVC figure of Hot Rod was the fourth entry in Takara'sMega Super Collection Figure.Based closely on Hot Rod's cartoon character model (albeit sporting the character's red and orange toy color scheme, rather than the cartoon's magenta), Hot Rod came with numerous interchangeable accessories. In addition to the Matrix of Leadership and two sets of hands—two clenched fists and two open palms—he includes several gadgets seen inThe Transformers: The Movie:the buzzsaw used in battle onQuintessa, the welding torch he used to repairKup,and an alternate head featuring an open-mouthed expression and the telescopic visor he used on Lookout Mountain.

  • Rodimus Convoy(2002)
    • Japanese ID number:Mega SCF-06
    • Accessories:Left and right open hands, left and right fists, pointing left hand, right hand w/ Photon Eliminator, Matrix of Leadership
Rodimus Prime also made an appearance in theMega Super Collection Figureline, standing a little taller than Hot Rod. He too features his red and orange toy-based coloration, instead of the burgundy shade featured in the cartoon. He shares both the Matrix and two sets of hands with Hot Rod, but rather than Hot Rod's other tools, comes instead with a third set of hands, one pointing, and one clutching his Photon Eliminator rifle.

MyClone

Myclone rodimus.jpg
  • Rodimus Convoy(2003)
    • Japanese ID number:MTF007
    • Accessories:Orange display stand

Hard Hero

HardHero HotRod bust.JPG
  • Hotrod(2003)
Number 7 inHard Hero's mainTransformersseries, "Hotrod" is a six inches tall cold-cast porcelain bust. The bust was limited to 4000 pieces, with an additional 100 being specially signed by sculptorJason Ray,and is a vanishingly rare example of a piece of Hot Rod merchandise that actually colors the character in his original magenta hue.

Bottlecap rodimus.JPG
  • Rodimus Convoy(2003)
    • Japanese ID number:D-6
    • Accessories:Display base

Titanium Series

(thumbnail)
"Three-inch Rod" is its own joke.
  • Rodimus(3-inch Robot Masters, 2006)
    • Accessories:Firebolt gun, Autobot insignia display base
TitaniumRodimus is a 3 inch tall, non-transforming, die-cast metal figurine. He has limited articulation, localized in his head, shoulders and waist. His gun (which looks anawfullot like Firebolt) is also removable. Excitement! Like all the figures in the line, he came packaged with a clear plastic display base, sculpted in the shape of, and decorated with, his faction's insignia.

First 4 Figures

  • Hot Rod vs Ravage & Rumble(2006unreleased)
Intended for release in theTransformers Battlefieldline by model companyFirst 4 Figures, this was to be 13-inch-ish tall diorama depicting Hot Rod fighting againstRavageandRumble. As aBattlefieldrelease, this model would have featured a detailed base designed to interlock with others in the same range to create a massive battle diorama. Unfortunately, a general discontinuation of First 4 Figures'Transformers-related output meant only the first model, "Optimus PrimevsMegatron",was released.
All models in theBattlefieldline were advertised as being sculpted by"Mad" Alterton, with a corresponding set of art posters byLittle IroN,implying he had produced the concept art for each release. The digital sculpt for Hot Rod was reportedly shown to the toy news press at New YorkToy Fairin 2006.[1]The set was likely intended to be limited to 1,850 pieces worldwide, given that the certificate of authenticity for the previous set allowed buyers to reserve the same numbered release on their next purchase in the series.

In terms of quality control, the figurines' paint applications can be...well,almost not entirelyshoddy (especially the flame decal/insignia combination on his vehicle hood).
