Hot Shot participated in a battle somewhere in theRigelsystem alongside his fellow WreckerKup.Kup had just finished telling Hot Shot one of his trademark stories when he noticed that theVehiconsattacking them were sporting Enemy-class drone bodies. Luckily for Hot Shot, itjust so happenedthat Kup had been present when the design had first been tested in battle! So, despite Hot Shot's protests, Kup decided to regale his junior with the thrilling story of his encounter with them.

After a good deal of time listening to Kup's story, Hot Shot realized that their Decepticon assailants have stopped firing upon them, which Kup revealed to have been part of his plan: wait until the Decepticons ran out of ammo, and then escape whilst they were restocking. Hot Shot began to express his gratitude at the end of Kup's story, only to learn that Kuphadn'tfinished.

When Kup finallydidfinish, Hot Shot quickly began pointing out major holes in his story, such as his recounting of events hehadn't even been present for.Hot Shot's attention to detail only earned him a "Shut up!"from his fellow Wrecker.Unreliable Narratives

The two bots decided to keep it as a tie, and Hoist presented them with custom cards.Battle of the BotsWhen an alien rock went missing, suspicion fell on Hot Shot, but it turned out the rock was actually an alien which the recruits then had to round up.About a RockThe recruits tried to keep secret the fact a dog had followed them home after the last rescue, only to discover that the dog was actually trying to alert them to the fact they'd missed someone who needed rescuing.Dog Stray Afternoon

Though the recruits struggled at first, Hot Shot eventually worked out how to save the simulated humans.The Ice Wave

On the eve of the recruits' graduation from year one, Optimus arrived with Hot Shot's old friendScorchwho wanted Hot Shot to play as part of Scorch's Cube team, theCyberblazers.Though Hot Shot was determined to impress Scorch with the recruits' rescue work, Scorch eventually persuaded him, and after farewelling his friends, Hot Shot returned to Cybertron.Best Bots Forever Part 1Despite a rocky start, Hot Shot sold his new teammates on the concept of teamwork prior to the start of the Cube final. They went on to win the championship, but Hot Shot was reminded of his friends on Earth and opted to return there instead of celebrating. He arrived in time to help burst an energon bubble that was threatening the entire planet, and apologized to the other recruits for abandoning them. Apprehensive at working with Heatwave, Hot Shot was taken about when his mentor had him carry out a series of chores. It wasn't until he applied what he'd learned while rescuing some foxes from a forest fire that he realized Heatwave had taught him something after all.In TrainingDuring a trip to Ratchet's lab on Cybertron, Hot Shot ended up getting blamed when Medix's batMister Flappycaused trouble. Hot Shot pursued the bat into the testing chamber and had to be rescued by Medix.Medix Steps Up To The Bat

When the recruits thought Cody was unhappy because he wasn't a giant robot like them, they built him a robotic suit which caused chaos during their mission to rescue a rogue bull. Cody later clarified that he was just missing hanging out with the recruits.Robo-CodyHeatwave tasked the recruits with acting in the playJack and the Beanstalk.Hot Shot tackled the role of Jack's mother with gusto, believing it made him Jack's boss. The play ended in near disaster when the stage almost collapsed.Acting OutHot Shot and the others found Wedge's boredom was interfering with their study time. Hot Shot eventually had to confess to Grimlock what he'd done so the teacher could help them recapture the Cube.Trouble CubedWhen Heatwave let the recruits pick their favorite rescue to do, Hot Shot immediately picked one involving a broken down submarine and sharks. The disagreement over which simulation to run resulted in the recruits accidentally breaking the control unit and plunging the sim into chaos until they worked together to fix the unit.My Favorite Rescue

After Ratchet got trapped in an ancient sim, the five recruits entered the sim as well. After accidentally messing up Hoist's museum, Hot Shot immediately wanted to cover it up, but Medix pointed out this course of action would surely end in disaster so Hot Shot cleaned up the mess instead. He later again caused a mess when he was attacked by a diagnostic tool unleashed by Medix, though fortunately Medix confessed and took the blame off Hot Shot.Good AdviceDuring a camping trip, Hot Shot was so terrified by Cody's ghost story that he ran into a tree, dislodging his comm transmitter. They returned to the academy, but Hot Shot's transmitter continued to make him hear the sounds of the forest, making him think they'd been followed back by theZombie Ghost Bearuntil they worked out what had happened. They returned to find the transmitter and rescued a bear cub in the process.Campfire Fright

When it turned out Hot Shot's Mul-T-Cog could activate the four additional Mul-T-Cogs from the vault, he had the great idea to get the other recruits to test them, only to discover that the cogs weren't powered up enough and the other recruits could no longer transform. Though it cost him his own ability to transform, Hot Shot used his cog to fully activate the other four. It later turned out that they in turn could reactivate his Mul-T-Cog with theirs, and he even gained the ability to scan a fourth alternate mode.Small CogsHe decided to scan a rocket to give himself more speed, however after he accidentally caused a fire, he realized Heatwave's firetruck mode would be infinitely more useful, and scanned that instead.Big Wheels

The recruits' first solo off-world mission took them to a deserted city, where they rescued Scorch and his Cube team from an arena and discovered the whole place was a long-lostTitan,Citadel Secundus.The Empty CityAfter taking part in Mentor Training Day with Heatwave, Hot Shot teamed up with his mentor again for a "rescue-athon".First Responder

Boulder assigned the recruits the task of training Scraplets, resulting in Hot Shot producing an anti-Scraplet device - a wooden box he hid in. The recruits eventually gave up after failing in their task. During a subsequent mission to prevent a power plant from exploding down, it turned out Medix had managed to train the Scraplets after all, saving the day.How To Train Your ScrapletHot Shot took part in a window washing rescue sim, and helped extinguish fires inCrook's Canyon.Helicopter HeroesHe and the other recruits were dispatched toAustraliato helpBrushfirewith somekangaroos,and ended up fighting fires.BrushfireHot Shot raced Whirl, resulting in her realizing she wasn't confident enough in her new police car mode.The Ties That Bind

During some lessons by Perceptor, Hot Shot was able to use his Cube skills to show how he'd stop a falling satellite. He and the other recruits later had to rescue Medix when their fellow recruit ran into trouble trying to impress the teacher.Medix Gets SchooledHe and the other recruits experienced jealousy when a group of teens began carrying out rescues in Milford and getting press.Rescue Teens

Perceptor sent the recruits toSifrolicous-5to discover why the planet changed color, and they foundmudlubbers,who turned out to be exactly suited to the environment.Enter The FloodHot Shot took part in a cow rescue, during which Whirl was injured and had to spend time recovering in a stasis pod.Wizard Of BotzWhen Hot Shot was assigned the task of maintenance on Hero Hall, the other recruits were skeptical of his abilities and Hoist attempted to do the work for him. As a result, Hoist screwed up and allowed creatures to escape the simulation. Though the pair did their best to recover the creatures without anyone knowing, a dragon menacing Milford was a bit much and forced them to come clean to Heatwave. Fortunately Hoist was able to reprogram the dragon into a blimp so they could safely return it to the academy.One Of Our Dragons Is Missing

Hot Shot and the other recruits were taken on a field trip to a tropical island to study volcanoes, though Hot Shot was disappointed it wasn't a vacation.Dino-mite DuoThey joined Heatwave in responding to a vague message from Citadel Secundus, only to find the Titan was just in need of some company.The Lonely TitanWhen the recruits were teamed up with geologistFinn O'Reilly,Hot Shot was skeptical that the human would be useful as they followed clues they believed would lead them to treasure. Finn proved himself more than useful and saved Hot Shot from the chest ofTox-Enwhich they found, so Hot Shot was pals with him from then on.X Marks The Bot

Hot Shot attempted to tutor Wedge when he realized his teammate was having trouble getting used to using his speed, but his tutoring style was terrible until Bumblebee gave him some pointers.Making TracksGrimlock's lesson that the recruits needed to be louder gave Hot Shot the idea to create sirens for them all. This worked insofar as Grimlock was happy, but during a mission to the planetKrimol,they found loud noises aggravated the local wildlife.Don't Be AlarmedHeatwave had Hot Shot and the other recruits retrieve toxic barrels from the seabed and rescue Jerry in order to teach them to exercise more restraint in using their power up tools.Powerless

After discovering that Medix was into DJ Mechmaster's electronic music, the recruits joined him in rescuing the DJ during a charity concert in Griffin Rock, and even took part in the show masquerading as stage props.Griffin Rock Rocks!Learning that Dig Fest had added a "Bot Battle" event, Hot Shot became determined to enter. His hand was forced when his careless words resulted in Chuck entering the event, so he also entered the event in order to protect Chuck. As it turned out, Chuck didn't need protecting and indeed won the event, leading Hot Shot to see him in a whole new light.Bot Battle

Following the successful completion of the last test of year two, the recruits were rewarded with a party aboard Citadel Secundus. Hot Shot opted not to go, instead wanting to create a nanobot sculpture to thank Heatwave and the other teachers for not giving up on him. Despite Whirl's help, the sculpture didn't quite turn out like he planned, however the pair found they had a new emergency as Secundus had been hit by an asteroid, knocking out him and everyone on board except Wedge, and was on a crash course for Earth.Space PartyBeing short a few teammates, Hot Shot and Whirl rounded up some of the friends they'd made and with their help, were able to remotely take control of Secundus, landing the Titan safely near the Academy. Hot Shot is functionally a significantly scaled up version of Bumblebee's rock-crawler toy from the "Rock Rescue Team".Transforming into an ATV and with elements based on hisRescue Bots Academydesign, Off-Road Rescue Hot Shot is a 10-inch tall toy that transforms from a robot to a red 4WD rescue truck with an “Easy 2 Do” conversion. Hot Shot features a button on his chest that activates lights and sounds, including a light up chest and eyes and a flashing lightbar. When opening the roof of the vehicle to form his arms, the classic transformation sound plays. He also features lines recorded by his in-show voice actor Pierce Cravens.

This version of Hot Shot is an extensive retool of theRescan VTOL jet version of Bumblebee,with everything but his forearms being significantly modified. Hot Shot now transforms into a jet or plane, with his signature chest harness now forming the front of the plane. A blue windowed cockpit sits near the rear wings. As with the original version of this figure, Hot Shot has arm articulation that has nothing to do with this transformation scheme.

The original version was also differently retooled into theRescan series VTOL version of Bladeswhich, oddly enough, was later redecoed and given a new head for his teammateWhirl in the "Academy Rescue Team" box-set,and further retooled into the jet version ofHeatwave.

Previewed at Toy Fair 2019,^[1]this Hot Shot shares engineering with thefireboat version of Heatwave,transforming into a hovercraft.

• Hot Shot(Mighty Mighties, 2019)

Similar in size to theRescue BotsEpic figures, Hot Shot's Mighty Mighties figure is non-transformable and features basic articulation.

• Academy Rescue Team(2019)

Like Offroad Rescue Hot Shot (above), "Academy Rescue Team" Hot Shot is based onBumblebee's ATV mode from the "Rock Rescue Team",but now back in the original Rescan size. First previewed at Toy Fair 2019,^[1]he is retooled similarly to his larger counterpart, with a new head and new chest harness detail, but lacks the light and sound gimmicks and has a slightly different deco layout. He comes in a set of four, similar to the previous "Griffin Rock Rescue Team",withWhirl(retool of VTOL jet version of Blades),Wedge(retool of cement mixer Salvage) andHoist(retool ofRescanHoist).

• Hot Shot(2020)

Part ofRescue Bots AcademyRescan Wave 5, this Hot Shot transforms into a car described as an "F1 racecar". His engineering and transformation pattern are familiar from frequently previous use throughout bothRescue BotsandRescue Bots Academy,originating withBlurrand subsequently used byMorBot,the racecar versions ofHeatwaveandWhirl,and thedragster version of Chase.

This figure was retooled to makeBumblebee.

A large 14-inch tall version of Hot Shot, this version converts into a large fire truck in a few simple steps. Included with the toys is a large ladder/ water cannon assembly that also features lights and sounds. The ladder assembly can be mounted on the bed of the truck mode, or on the robot mode's back.

• Hot Shot(20??)

Hot Shot was the fifth and final recruit to receive an 11-inch tall show-accurate figure with an "Easy 2 Do Conversion". Pressing a switch on his left arm causes a water cannon to flip down, with a jet of water springing out. Otherwise he is functionally similar to previous toys.

Notes

• Hot Shot'sPrimetoy is a smorgasbord of homages, featuring elements fromevery otherincarnation of Hot Shot. By contrast, hisRescue Bots Academydesign is near-exclusively based onArmadaHot Shot,but with a red ATV mode instead of a yellow car (presumably to distinguish him further fromBumblebee). Early concept art also showed his vehicle mode was more akin to a 4x4 offroad jeep compared to the buggy-like alt mode of the final design.
• As thePrimeHot Shot toy is an existing mold altered to make a new character, so is hiscard art;it's a stock promotional render of Bumblebee with new colors and a slightly altered head.
• If the recruits were to have an official age order,Pete Slatterywould write Hot Shot to be right in the middle^[2]
