Ironhide (Animated)
From Transformers Wiki

- Ironhide is anAutobotfrom theAnimated continuity family.
Even though he's now a ranking Autobot security officer,Ironhideis just a country boy at heart. Though his ability to encase his superstructure in a near-indestructible alloy meant he rose through the ranks in the military service quickly, he never quite lost the "aw, shucks" demeanor he picked up as aprotoformin a rural prefecture ofCybertron. Now going to strange places, meeting strange mechanoids, and getting shot at by them, he still finds himself wide-eyed at some of the stranger things in the galaxy. He's got a mischievous streak, though his pranks often seem a bit crude to more cultured bots.

He comes with two "hammer hand" accessories which peg over his fists, which can be stored in the rear of his vehicle mode. His right fist punches forward when a tab on his elbow is pushed. The toy also has a socket on his left forearm to accommodate DeluxeLockdown's EMP weapon; however, how well that accessory actually fits in the socket seems to vary wildly from sample to sample. His new head featureslight-piping,and inexplicably, heavy painted circles under Ironhide's optics which give the impression of a 'Bot badly in need of a stasis-nap.
- AtBotCon 2009,Hasbro explained "Either Ironhide got a new head, orWaspdid. "They went with the former. Good choice, especially given that the latter never saw release.
- The only difference between Ironhide's instructions and Cybertron Mode Ratchet's instructions is that the former is labeled "Cybertroninan Ironhide"[sic].In all other respects, they are the same, down to the line drawings and stock photo at the top of the sheet.
- In the HasbroAnimatedline, Ironhide was originally planned for mass retail, but ended up as part of the second wave ofToys "R" Usexclusiveproduct, released in Fall 2010.

- Had a fourth season ofAnimatedgone into production, Ironhide would have joinedOptimus Prime's team, replacingBulkhead. This is evidenced in the outline for "Trial of Megatron",which shows Ironhide becoming a" bodyguard "to Optimus thanks to Sentinel.
- Multiple concepts for Ironhide's Earth design were made, which presented his vehicle mode as a pickup truck. One concept would have looked mostly the same as his Cybertronian body but with black accents and arm-mounted cannons similar to his"movie series" counterpartand the windshield-faceguard ofthe original Generation 1 toy.Another conceptwould have looked like a grey recolor of Sentinel's Earth body with Ironhide's head.[1]
