2005 IDW continuity

In 1943, Kalistan was occupied by or allied withGermanyin WWII. Sgt. Savage and his Screaming Eagles took part in a battle there where the Axis forces usedrobotic soldiers.

By the 21st century, Kalistan was ruled by one Count van Rani, the "Iron Klaw". Nothing suspicious about that.The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb

• Kalistan debuted in Iron Klaw's originating franchise,G.I. Joe Extreme.In the 1995-1997 animated series, S.K.A.R. arose from Kalistan to exploit the chaos of post-Soviet Europe in 2006.
• In real life, the presumably unrelated toponymKhālistānis used by Sikh separatists in India.
