Krok the last autobot.jpg

After the climactic battle withUnicron,Krok turned up out of nowhere onCybertron, working asBludgeon's right hand 'bot and aide-de-camp.Still Life!He even got to sit at the Big Boys' Table with Bludgeon,Prowl, andGrimlockduring the united Autobot/Decepticon council meetings. He and Bludgeon both still had the urge to conquer in their circuitry, but were worried that after the war, their fellow Decepticons might actually prefer to remain in alliance with the Autobots. Fortunately for them, Grimlock engaged in a very public and very brutal beating of the DecepticonFangry, quickly turning sentiment against the alliance. Krok and Bludgeon led the Decepticons in abandoning the Autobots on Cybertron and left for a new world to conquer:Klo.Exodus!Serving as site-to-site coordinator, Krok kept Bludgeon apprised of troop advancement across the planet's surface. He also uncovered an Autobot homing beacon on one of their ships during a security sweep and was able to warn Bludgeon ahead of time that they should expect company. The Last Autobot?

Krok: Legend of the Gobbos

More than twenty years after the final battle on Klo, Krok continued to serve in his role as Bludgeon's adviser as the Decepticon leader led his troops in an assault on Cybertron. After unleashing theirBlitz Enginesupon Cybertron's Autobots, Krok suggested using theWarworld's powerful weaponry but Bludgeon was not keen to devastate the very planet that he wanted to take back and instead decided on a single, symbolic strike—centred onUltra MagnusandGalvatron!Destiny, Part FourAs Bludgeon monologued about the battle unfolding below them, Krok requested assurance that they were actually going to win. Fangry suggested that he and Krok repair to the planet's surface along withWeirdwolf,Octopunch,Skullcruncher,Horri-Bull,andStrangleholdin an attempt to tip the scales in the Decepticons' balance but the arrival of theDinobotsandDemonsmade short work of their Blitz Engines. The 'bot who would become known as "Krok" wasconstructed coldArm the Lonelyat the same time asAgonizer. He would go to join theMilitant Monoform Movementand became aMonoformer;during theGreat War,he and Agonizer both enlisted with the Decepticons. Some Of My Best Friends Are AutobotsLike many Decepticons, he developed prejudice against organic species, including a particular disgust for the shapeshiftingDire Wraiths.Nothing Will Ever Be the Same Again!

Late in the war, the Decepticon would rise to command his own squad, a feat of which he was quite proud. When he and his squad went up against theWreckers, however, the Autobot commandos massacred his unit:Roadbuster, high onSyk,tore out his buddyRadar's spine and made him eat it. In his grief, he gathered up Radar's remains and kept his severed finger as a memento, discovering that it could also function as an ad-hoc communicator and a Decepticonsparkdetector.AnimalsIt seems the Wreckers also killed hispet, and he named himself "Krok" in its honor. Some Of My Best Friends Are AutobotsUnable to come to grips with the death of his squad, Krok convinced himself that he had simply lost contact with them, and developed a nervous tic of "clicking" Radar's thumb (which he passed off as a "communicator" ) when anxious.Animals

Following the loss of his squad, Krok served on aWarworldas a military strategist, though he was regarded as "incompetent" by his shipmateSkullcruncher. Some Of My Best Friends Are Autobots

Around2008,he became friends with two other Decepticons namedSpinisterandThundersaur. When Thundersaur died, his last request was for Krok and Spinister to find and rescue another friend of his namedFlyhigh, who had been tried and incarcerated. The pair deserted the Decepticon command to repay this debt; catching up with the prison shipWeak Anthropic Principle, they hijacked the vessel, locked its pilotCrankcasein the brig, and sprang Flyhigh, who was now going by the name "Misfire."The three of them became known as the" Foragers, "gathering up things that others had overlooked —though in practice this mostly meant that they scroungedenergonand spare parts off old battlefields.Kill All 'Cons

"I remember when this was all fields... ThankMortiluswe came along! "

Over the next four years, the team became known as the "Scavengers"and accepted their former prisoner Crankcase as a full-fledged member of the group; when the Great War ended in2012,the Scavengers glumly assumed that the Autobots had won and their aimless planet-hopping led them to the planetClemency.Making a stopover on the dead planet for another salvage run, they recruited the defectiveK-ClassbomberFulcrum,built a fire out of a woundedAutobotand updated Fulcrum on the war's end, then executed the Autobot when they were done. The next morning, Misfire spotted an abandoned P-6Worldsweepership and the crew decided to investigate. If the contents of the ship, including lots ofbrain modules, abortedprotoforms,a wooden robot, bleeding skin-covered rooms andGrimlockin astasis podweren't unsettling enough, Krok picked up a message from theDecepticon Justice Divisioninforming them that one of their number was scheduled to be killed.Rules of Disengagement

Krok decided to stay behind and battle the DJD by pumping Grimlock full ofcircuit speeders, putting him out in the open and releasing him from his pod when the D.J.D. got close. At the last moment, the DJD revealed they were actually after Fulcrum; before Fulcrum could explain, the DJD arrived and Krok sprang his trap. Krok attempted to fightKaonin the ensuing battle, but was pinned down and tortured byVosand his detachable mask, and was further wounded by Misfire's legendarily poor aim. When the DJD retreated to pursuea higher-priority target,Crankcase recovered Krok, who was still functioning despite his injuries. The other Scavengers agreed to repair their leader and then set a course for Cybertron, using a brain-damaged Grimlock as a bargaining chip when they got there.Who's Afraid of the DJD?

During a subsequent attempt to spring Misfire from theGalactic Council's death row on the planetConstancy,Krok was rendered inactive by the effects ofTyrest'suniversal killswitch.Arm the LonelyHe recovered when the killswitch was neutralised byRodimusandPerceptor. This Calamitous Life

Ultimately, the Scavengers never made it back to Cybertron: after learning thatStarscreamhad seized power, and wouldn't be pleased to see Grimlock, they abandoned their plans to return home. A few months later, word reached them thatMegatronhad publicly defected to the Autobots, and the news sent them into a spiral of boredom and depression: vandalisingAutopedia, playing "Shoot Shoot Bang Bang"and drifting aimlessly from one mishap to the next. Despite their madcap adventures, Krok grew increasingly resentful of their situation, believing that, while many Decepticons had found wealth and fame, they'd done nothing with their lives since the end of the war. Around this time, he was contacted by fellow monoformerDemusthrough a Triple-M subgroup onThe Big Conversationwith the offer of earning some easyShanix, and so Krok had Crankcase pilot theWeak Anthropic PrincipletoTebris VII.

After crash-landing on the planet, Krok awoke hours later to find Crankcase and Fulcrum lounging around watching Skullcruncher, who had reinvented himself as a stand-up comedian. The discovery that yet another of his former comrades had made himself rich—and by making fun of Krok, to boot—drove Krok to frustration beyond measure and he smashed the TV screen with theirNo Hard Feelingstour merchandise before being smashed into a wall himself by Grimlock, having another of his "fits". An argument with Misfire over keeping his "pet" locked up only narrowly avoided becoming a full-blown row by Demus making contact and inviting the Scavengers to come and meet him at his scrapyard to discuss the deal. Some Of My Best Friends Are Autobots

Demus—unbeknownst to Krok, an employee of the mysteriousGrand ArchitectAnimalsoffered the Scavengers half a billion Shanixeachin exchange for Grimlock. The Decepticons opted to put it to a vote: Krok, Crankcase, and Spinister elected to sell him, carrying it by three votes to two. However, they wouldn't get the chance to make the deal, as Demus was summarily executed by the Duly Appointed Enforcer of theTyrest Accord,Fortress Maximus. Some Of My Best Friends Are Autobots

Krok is just all thumbs today.

On the run from Fortress Maximus in Demus's warehouse of toy "Roboids,"Krok's incessant" clicking "prompted a frustrated Misfire to finally reveal the truth about Krok's past to the other Scavengers. Krok admitted as much, but pointed out that Radar's finger was also a spark detector, and that they were surrounded by hundreds of Decepticon sparks: the Roboids were really"domesticated"Transformers, stuck in theirbeast modes.Horrified at such needless cruelty, Krok came to realise that he had been treating Grimlock in much the same way and resolved to make things right. With Maximus now after Grimlock on theW.A.P.a hundred miles away and Spinister and Misfiremode lockedthanks to Demus's extremetransformationphobia, the Scavengers were forced to unbox sixEquinoidson which to ride to the rescue.

Having convinced Fortress Maximus that the other Roboids' lives were in danger thanks to a fake bomb they had planted, the Scavengers escaped Tebris VII in theWeak Anthropic Principle, where Krok announced to the other Scavengers that he had a new plan: to find and help all the other Decepticons out there who had been damaged by the war. They agreed that it was a good idea, but reasoned that they had time for another game of "Shoot Shoot Bang Bang" first, which Krok won.Animals

Later, aboard theWeak Anthropic Principle, the Scavengers watched a video that was being broadcast to the galaxy at large ofLost Lightcrewmembers apparently counting down the time to their deaths, which even they found a bit dark. How Bright Their Frail Deeds

Krok and the other Scavengers touched down inNew Mexico, unaware ofEarth's burgeoningOre-13crisis, so that Crankcase could meet with his online flame "CONS4EVA."While Misfire and Spinister headed off to recapture a runaway Grimlock, Krok and Fulcrum accompanied Crankcase to meet" CONS4EVA "... who, after briefly manifesting asThunderwing, revealed himself as aDire Wraith."CONS4EVA" informed the Decepticons that he wanted their help to participate in aTemptorianreligious ceremony known as the "Crossover;"with the help ofG.I. JoewashoutMP3,they attempted to open a portal to a new life, but were disappointed by the result. Krok offered them a spot aboard theWeak Anthropic Principle, and while the Wraith merely accepted a lift to the neareststarhub,MP3 chose to join the Scavengers on their adventure... but Fulcrum, disgusted by humans, flew off before MP3 could board.Nothing Will Ever Be the Same Again!

After parting ways with "CONS4EVA", the Scavengers landed on the planetFrayusin the hopes of recovering a rumored cache ofununtriumfrom an abandoned Decepticon base. Emerging from the ruins ofCamp Conclaveempty-handed, they discovered that while they were underground the planet had become a three-way battlefield between theGalactic Council, theBlack Block Consortia, andDeathsaurus's contingent of Decepticon deserters for control of the rare metals in the system. Unable to teleport back to their ship,Journey's Endthey were rescued by Agonizer, who transported them to his antique shop onTroja Major.

"Quick! Play some Electric Light Orchestra!"

Agonizer requested their help—along with ex-DJD memberNickel, who had been accidentally thrown into the portal—in retrieving the mythical artifact known as theMagnificencefromFlame. The group portalled to its last known location,Confluence, discovering another Worldsweeper-class ship being guarded by more of the wooden Transformers. Though Grimlock was able to dispatch the "Treecons,"the group was taken prisoner byScorponok, who explained his history with Grimlock and the Magnificence to the group before leaving them to be torn apart by the enragedDinobot. The Ties That Bind

Thanks to Nickel's medical knowledge and Spinister's surgeon skills, the quick-thinking Scavengers were able to reverse Grimlock's brain damage; in order to sneak out of their cell, they disassembled their bodies to look as though Grimlock had disemembered them, putting themselves back together once Grimlock requested an audience with Scorponok. Arming themselves, they stormed the bridge of the ship, whereupon Fulcurm used the Magnificence to deduce the learn that Scorponok had tapped its knowledge to create a genetically engineered lifeform he called "TheFirstborn"designed to repopulate the dying Decepticon race by biologically producingSparks.Rejecting his offer to kill Grimlock in exchange for their lives, the Scavenger's Sparks were nearly extracted before Nickel managed to paralyze Scorponok. Absconding with the Magnificence and the Firstborn, the Scavengers planned to use a transmat portal to head toGarrus-9in the hopes of returning the Firstborn to normal; on learning that teleportation would be fatal to the infant, Grimlock took the infant into his chest cavity and shoved the Decepticons into the portal.

Krok, Nickel, and the other Scavengers arrived on Garrus-9... but discovered that they had teleported directly into Grimlock's old cell, which was still locked from the outside. Everyone watched in amazement asMegatron's ship theLast Lightemerged from a portal being created by the Grand Architect, followed closely by what appeared to be the robot mode ofPrimushimself. Megatron had just arrived from the dystopianFunctionist Universe, where said Functionists had converted theirCybertroninto a giant avatar of Primus. Intent on conquering another universe, the Functionist Council and their fake Primus quickly entered combat with the Grand Architect's fleet. Megatron rescued most of theLost Light's crew from the Grand Architect and was elated to see Krok and the Scavengers in particular, not having been in the presence of actual Decepticons in centuries. The Scavengers were equally awed that Megatron even knew their names, and Krok could only gape as Megatron shook his hand. The Return of the King

AfterRungwas revealed to be the real Primus, a plan was hatched to overload Functionist Primus'hot spotsusing multipleMatricesthat Rung could produce. Before any specifics were hashed out, Functionist Primus attacked the artificial planet theLost Lightwas currently sitting on and Krok urged Crankcase to quickly get the ship back into the sky. They narrowly escaped the destruction of the planet and Megatron ordered theLost Lightto swing around and face the false Primus head-on.The UnrememberingAfter Functionist Primus was forcibly converted to planet mode and Rung sacrificed himself to create the multiple Matrices, the plan to overload the hot spots was put into action. First, it had to be decided who could actually open a Matrix, and Krok was fairly doubtful when Misfire ventured himself as a prospect. Krok was sent to theEugenesishot spot to protectVelocityas she attempted to open her Matrix. They were set upon by Functionist soldiers, but everyone eventually managed to open their Matrix and defeat the Functionists once and for all.A Spark Among Embers

Krok and the Scavengers went along on theLost Light's final "lap of honor" before the ship was to be decommissioned. The crew voted on a risky gambit to attempt aquantum duplicationon their jump back to Cybertron, possibly allowing one version of the ship and its crew to continue their adventures in another universe. Upon returning to Cybertron, the Scavengers attended a farewell party inSwerve's,where Krok accepted an apology from Fortress Maximus for the Autobot's attempt to kill them back onTebris VII.The Scavengers left the party together and headed forTroja Major, with Krok ordering Misfire to calm down as the rowdy Decepticon bade farewell to their new friends.

Once the signal came, they space bridged to Cybertron and started beating on some drones. In the heat of the battle, Krok blasted theSoundwaveclone's head off, much to the disappointment ofSerpentor, who had wanted to question him.

  • Krok with Gatoraider(Action Master,1990)
Part of the second series of individually-cardedAction Masterssold in the seventh and final year of theoriginal USTransformerstoyline,Krok is a non-transforming 3¾-inch action figure of a robot with an indeterminate vehicularalternate mode;his chest design hints that he was once some kind of flying craft thanks to something that looks like a cockpit, though this is the only pseudo-reliable clue we get as to what his former vehicle mode might be. His construction is broadly similar to that used by theG.I. Joefigures of the time, having a swivel neck, shoulders and knees, plus ball-jointed hips attached via a steel rod internally secured by a rubber "o-ring". His hands have standard 3 mm holes which allow him to hold any other accessory in the Action Master line, plus his feet have holes in the bottom to secure him to larger vehicles. On top of that, the hole in his back is compatible with5 mm posts.
He comes with his alligatorpartner,Gatoraider, who transforms into a giant cannon Krok can hold.

Part of theFigure Subscription Service3.0, Krok is aredecoandretoolofGenerations: Thrilling 30Deluxe ClassMegatronwith a new head, transforming into a "flying wing" stealth bomber which resembles a Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit. In robot mode, his wingtips detach to combine and transform into a large cannon that can peg into 5 mm ports on his hands and forearms.
He comes with a new version of his Action Master partnerGatoraider. As he was the sixth and final paid figure in the service, he also comes with the "bonus" seventh figure(s) included in his box,NightracerandShakar.

  • Gatorface & Decepticon Krok(Deluxe Class,2017)
  • Accessories:"Gatorface" Titan Master, rifle, tail/blaster
  • Known designers:John Warden(Hasbro)
Released in the fourth wave ofTitans ReturnDeluxes, "Decepticon Krok" is a retool ofSkullsmasher, transforming into a robotic crocodile. He comes with hisTitan MasterpartnerGatorface, who can fit inside a compartment in Krok's beast mode back or transform into his robot mode head (with new tooling for his face). As with otherTitans Returntoys, Krok can accommodate any compatible Titan Master figure; aside from the cross-compatibility with other Titan Masters in head mode, his tail separates to form a large cannon that can seat any Titan Master/Prime Masterfigure.
Like Skullsmasher, his crocodile head is detached in-package and must be manually attached. Also like the previous uses of this mold, his hips are relatively loose—but unlike Hasbro's Skullsmasher, they are not excessively so. The CG mockup art included in the packaging depicts Gatorface with his legs attached backwards, though the actual toy is constructed correctly.
His Titan Master door on his beast mode back (which is made of rubbery plastic) and his chest in robot mode oddly have Movieverse styled Decepticon insignias. Krok's teeth are also made of transparent yellow rubbery plastic. Similar toFire Blast effects, this plastic can bond to the paint covering the lower jaw, causing it to fuse together and become difficult to open.
Krok was first released at retail in the Philippines, and subsequently the United States, in early 2017, withPerceptorandSergeant Kupbeing the only figures from his wave that had been officially announced by Hasbro by that point. Hasbro didn't acknowledge the existence of Krok,QuakeandTopspinuntilToy Fair, over a month after their release in the Philippines and two weeks after the first sighting at US retail.

Notes

Life's a me, and then you die.
  • Krok's original toy had a grey color scheme in the preproduction phase, on display in various catalogs, the 1990 boxback mural, and hisPower Plans. This coloration seems to have been used for his appearances in the Marvel comics, as he was colored closer to medium grey than black in their limited palette.
  • An old fan theory held that Krok's vehicle mode was a UFO. Decades later,Shattered GlassCosmoswould be given Krok's color scheme as a nod to this idea.
