Some time after2005inan altered timeline,Megatron led the Decepticons in an attack on theEarth Defense Commandbase on Mars, only to be confronted by theDoctor Arkeville-created TransformerNemesis Prime,who declared that Earth's solar system beloned to him. Megatron thus grappled against Nemesis Prime, but Nemesis emerged victorious whenMirageactivated aQuintessonkillswitchon Cybertron which deactivated all non-Binaltech Transformers across the universe.Kill Switch
The Headmasterscartoon
Having harnessed theplasma energyreleased when the Transformers' homeworld ofCybertronwas destroyed, DecepticonHeadmasterleaderScorponoksought to generate and collect more of the energy to fuel his ambitions. To accomplish this, Scorponok plotted the destruction of Mars, and ordered theTerrorconsto plant plasma energy bombs beneath the surface of the planet Mars at strategic points which would, when detonated, rip the planet apart.
The Decepticons' activities were discovered bySpike,Daniel,Wheelie,and theTrainbots,who were on Mars conducting a geological survey at the time. TheAutobotHeadmasters were called in to deal with the threat, but during the battle that ensued,Fortress Maximuswas de-powered by a plasma energy blast.Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger
Scorponok took the opportunity to activate his newly constructedTranstectorand travel to Mars where he pummeled Maximus before ordering the planet's destruction. Two clusters of bombs placed at the Martian planetary poles were detonated simultaneously bySoundblaster,beginning a chain reaction that started to tear Mars apart. Scorponok and the Decepticons evacuated while the Autobots were consumed by the inferno, but Fortress Maximus was able to absorb some of the energy released in the early stages of the conflagration and made his escape as Mars exploded.Explosion on Mars!! Eventually, following the destruction of Scorponok's Transtector and the Decepticons' final retreat from Earth, the Autobots prepared to depart from the planet as well. When saying their goodbyes to the Witwickys, Fortress declared that, among many other tasks that lay ahead, he and the Autobots would work to restore the destroyed planet Mars back to its former glory.The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)
