Following the original defeat of the Destructons and their imprisonment in a dimensional barrier, the Logicons left a warning beacon nearby detailing the location of Metascan Alpha. When the Destructons were eventually released, the beacon's recording found its way into the hands of theAutobots,who sent out two teams in search of the planet.
Ultra Magnus's team ended up on a desolate moon orbiting a planet they believed to be Metascan Alpha, but when they flew down to check it out, they found a city under attack by the Destructons. A battle briefly raged before the Autobots realized that they were outclassed and began a retreat. It was only through the heroic sacrifice ofKupthat they made it off the planet.The War Against the Destructons, Chapter 1 of 3

- It is entirely unclear whether the planet which Ultra Magnus and his men find is actually Metascan Alpha. Although Ultra Magnus seems to think they've found what they're looking for, the inhabitants do not seem to resemble Logicons as shown in the recording.
