After enormous gold deposits were discovered beneath the mountain, GovernorHarmonordered a large-scale mining operation, leading hundreds of miners to begin excavating beneath the mountain, though critics claimed this would pose a severe environmental risk. This proved prophetic, as the mining took a heavy toll on the mountain's stability, causing a massive earthquake that severely damaged Rockville. While theAutobotshelped the people evacuate,Jolt's analysis indicated the mountain was at risk of caving in within minutes, and that falling into the reservoir below would cause it to burst, triggering a flood that would completely destroy Rockville. Following a plan devised byCoby Hansen,Optimus Primeused a hose to drain the water from the reservoir whileScattorshotfired guided missiles down the mine shaft, hitting the base of the mountain and allowing it to be safely collapsed into the cavern, saving the town.Collapse
