As an imprint ofImage Comics,Skybound is the latest publisher ofTransformersandG.I. Joecomics, beginning in2023with the launch of the sharedEnergon Universecontinuity. The company also publishes otherTransformersandG.I. Joecomics not tied to the Energon Universe, such as the continuation of the long-runningG.I. Joe: A Real American Herocomic.

- Skybound was announced in late 2021 to be in negotiations for Hasbro comic licenses[1]ahead of previous licenseeIDW Publishingconfirming in early 2022 that their license was ending.[2]Their acquisition of the license was eventually confirmed onJune 10,2023, thanks to a promotional artwork poster posted from a comic shop to Tumblr,[3]shortly beforeVoid Rivals#1 went on sale onJune 14,2023.
- AtSan Diego Comic-Con2023, Kirkman stated that Skybound eventually plans to reprint material from previous publishers such asMarvel Comicsand IDW.
