Then you get up, thank him and ask for another. The most notorious drill instructor in the Maximal Military Academy, the mere utterance of his name is enough to send tremors of awe and terror through any new recruit who hears it. Survive firmly believes that a military unit lives and dies by the quality of its teamwork, and the best way to bond a team of misfits is by making them trudge through Hell together. So give 'em Hell is exactly what Survive does. And he'sverygood at it.
Naturally, Survive despisesBig Convoy, the self-proclaimed "One-Man Army" who eschews teamwork and camaraderie. Survive was a drill sergeant and training instructor among the Maximals. Known as the "Demon Bear", he was infamous among recruits for his strict and uncompromising training methods. Survive preferred not to rely upon weapons, and encouraged his trainees to focus on hand-to-hand combat as well. One of his more troublesome students was the independentBig Convoy.Although a formidable fighter, Big Convoy insisted on fighting on his own and would not advance to the leadership position which Survive knew he had the potential to claim.
In time, Survive's now-former student Big Convoy was given command of a squad of trainees aboard theGung Ho.After some time in the field, Survive was instructed to make contact with theGung Hoand assess how the trainees had progressed. On PlanetStero,Survive set an ambush for the Maximals by using a fake transmitter to simulate anAngolmois capsulereading. He attacked the field team ofBreak,Stampy, andMach Kick, overpowering the crew. Upon announcing himself officially, Survive had Big Convoy and the rest of the crew assemble for his inspection. Survive had doubts about the crew's effectiveness after dismantling them, and threatened to send back a poor report on Big Convoy's leadership.
When a group of Predacons arrived to confront the Maximals, Survive gave the trainees another chance to prove themselves by fighting under his command. He deployed a smokescreen to retreat and regroup in a more favorable battlefield.Heinradwas used as a decoy to lure the Predacons into position for personal combat. Survive ordered the Maximals not to fire their weapons and reveal their position, but Break and the others disobeyed his order when they saw Heinrad taking damage. Survive ordered another retreat, but the Predacons used their teleporter to flank the Maximals. The Maximals tried to comply with Survive's head-first methods, but they weren't used to such a fighting style. Instead, they fell back on Big Convoy's more flexible teachings and won the day.
The Predacons' intelligence officerKiller Punchhad initiated the attack because he believed Survive and Big Convoy were at odds with one another, and would be distracted by squabbling. Survive refused to even consider that Big Convoy would speak poorly of him when Killer Punch suggested it, though. Despite their different methods, the teacher thought highly of his student, and likewise. After Big Convoy saved Survive from the Predacon, Survive dismiss theGung Hocrew with passing marks. He personally commended Big Convoy on adapting his flexible style to leadership, and encouraged him on with his mission.Survive the Hot-Blooded Instructor

Beast Wars: Uprising
Survive was a battle strategist associated withLio Convoy'sResistance. He organized the third strike onFortress Maximus, working on a need-to-know basis withBighornandCybersharkon usingBuzzclawas their stalking horse to locate Maximus's control chamber. Once Buzzclaw (the obvious choice for Maximus's telepathy to manipulate) was under the influence, a prepared neural spike killed him and sent feedback into Fortress Maximus's cyberdroids, incapacitating the Builder so the Resistance could destroy him. Survive at least consoled the shocked Ser-Ket, unlike the apathetic Cybershark and callous Bighorn, assuring the Predacon there really was nothing they could've done for Buzzclaw.Head Games
