- The Turbomasters were part of the final year of products in theoriginalTransformerstoylinein European, Australian, and Canadian markets. (Thunder Clash was also released in Japan in late 1992 in European packaging with some legal-info stickers in Japanese added to it, as one of the earliest ancestors of Takara's twenty-first century "USA Edition"imprint.) The team were considered the" headliners "for that year; Thunder Clash is presumed to be the new leader of the entire Autobot faction in fact, though Europe/Australasia was a little liberal when it came to handing out" Leader "Functions and" 10 "Ranks.
- The team's central unifying gimmick is powerful spring-loaded missile launchers that become engines/turbines in vehicle mode. These launchers use pretty small projectiles, which means they would nevereverpass U.S.safety standards. While the two larger molds did see U.S. releases (as other characters), every release has either neutered the launchers or altered them to fire much larger, choke-gate-test-passing ammunition.
- In at least France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, the Turbomasters were referred to asCanon Masters.
- The four smaller Turbomasters were released without any notable changes inTakara'sOperation Combinationas the "Road Corps,"a completely different set of characters.
