Beast Wars: Uprising

TheTyrant Bladewas a pre-Great Wardagger that belonged to the former gladiatorDouble Punch,displayed in the collection of his postwarBuilder-era mansion. When Double Punch'sPredaconprotégéGnashteethusurped his Decepticon master, Gnashteeth appropriated the dagger, which functioned as a spear in the smaller proto-former's hands. Firing 50,000 volts from the newly renamed "Tyrant Spear", the also newly renamed "Megatron" completed his coup by executing Double Punch.Identity Politics

Released as a souvenir figure forBotCon 2016,Combiner WarsMegatron is a redeco/retool of the2001Robots in DisguiseUltra ClassMegatron/Galvatronmold.
TheBeast Wars: Uprisingprose stories described Megatron's staff as a version of the Tyrant Spear. Said staff is assembled from two missile launchers, which can also be held individually in Megatron's hands.
This mold was also used to make the weapon forTimelinesDeathsaurus.

AGenerations Selectsadd-on toEarthrise,Black Roritchiis a minorretoolingofFasttrack.As aWeaponizer-styled figure, Black Roritchi transforms viapart-forminginto a six-wheeled Cybertronian buggy-tank with twin blasters. His instructions include a massive spear configuration meant to be held by the then-concurrent Titan ClassScorponok,inspired by (though not visually based on)Black Zarak's Tyrant Spear. The spear mode is also shown in the instructions being used by fellowSelectsreleaseExhaust,which is pretty funny given it's about three times Exhaust's height.

Scorponok himself was laterretooledintoGenerations SelectsBlack Zarakwith a plethora of newly-molded pieces, including a new Tyrant Spear accessory modelled on the original. The Tyrant Spear separates into six pieces for storage in both scorpion and city modes. In particular, the tip of the spear becomes the scorpion's stinger.

While primarily intended to homageGeneration 1 Slicer's4WD Assault Vehicle/Exo-Suitaccessory, Hasbro designerMark Maherintimated that the figure was also designed as a sort of "best of both worlds" of the prior twoSelectsofferings, reproducing Black Roritchi's Tyrant Spear mode in Generation 1 accurate colors.[1]

BlackZarak was the "Build a Figure"from the fifth,Masterforce-centric wave ofTakara's line ofSuper Collection FigurePVC figurines. BlackZarak's parts were available in both full-color and smokey translucent plastic. The figure cannot securely hold its Tyrant Spear, which is held in place only by gravity.

  • If the inclusion ofBeast Wars: UprisingMegatron's weapon on this page seems puzzling, remember thatUprisingis full of networked homages. The originalDouble Punchtoy was inspired by Generation 1Scorponok,whose variant form BlackZarak included the original Tyrant Spear. In turn,UprisingDouble Punch was the owner of his reality's Tyrant Spear before Megatron the Younger stole it.
  • The Tyrant Spear in theLegendsmanga is a "virtual redeco" of the trident that came withHunt for the DecepticonsDeluxe ClassTerradive.
