Deep within the bowels ofCybertron, there lie several layers of ruins, remnants of ancient civilizations long gone and lost to time. One of these forgotten structures is a massive "underground amphitheater".Who created this mighty piece of architecture is not known, nor is its original purpose; whether it was used for entertainment, enlightenment, or a combination thereof remains a great mystery.
Whatisknown, however, is that it had survived into era of theMaximalsandPredacons, and was rediscovered by a small group of Maximals led byOptimus Primal, who used the amphitheater as their hideout and base of operations during the early events of theSpark War.But once they relocated to anew base, the amphitheater was soon occupied by a different host, the craftyVehicon GeneralTankor.

Following a rather poor performance againstMegatron'sarmy ofVehicons, theMaximalsregrouped at the amphitheater, where an overemotionalOptimus Primalchastised his teammates for their sloppiness in the battle.Blackarachnia, however, was distracted by mysterious visions she was having, and snuck away from the amphitheater to investigate their meaning.Fires of the PastLater on, Blackarachnia andCheetorsparred with each other at the amphitheater, as part of their training under Optimus to better master the more spiritual aspects of their newtechnorganicbodies.Rattrap, meanwhile, was off the side still struggling with learning how to transform. Unbeknownst to all of them, a pair of mysterious eyes belonging to an unseen creature was watching them all from the rafters above the amphitheater's stage area. When Rattrap took his frustrations out on Optimus, the latter stepped away and turned his head up toward the rafters, spotting the creature overheard. He leapt up into the rafters and grabbed hold of the creature, revealing it to be anorganic bat.The bat escaped from Optimus's grip and flapped wildly above the stage before zipping off down one of the amphitheater's nearby backstage tunnels. Optimus ordered a pursuit of the bat and discovered it to be a young Maximal namedNightscream, who joined the team after beingreformattedby Optimus, which left him in bad shape.Forbidden Fruit
In his weakened state, Optimus spent his time recovering at the amphitheater. During a recon mission carried out by Cheetor, Rattrap, and Nightscream, Blackarachnia kept watch over Optimus at the amphitheater. After the mission went south thanks to Rattrap's misguided actions, he tried to confide in the sleeping Optimus about how he had finally learned how to transform, but the other Maximals all chastised him for his recklessness and switched off the amphitheater's light fixtures to let Optimus keep sleeping. The Weak ComponentThe Maximals had soon learned that each of theVehicon Generalswere powered by thesparksof those familiar to them,Discoveryand sought to figure out how to turn each general back into who they once were. A computer console had been set up at the back end of the amphitheater, which Rattrap used to pull up information on the three generals.DescentDiscovering that the Vehicon GeneralTankorcontained the spark of their old friendRhinox, the Maximals attempted to bring Rhinox's mind out of Tankor. But, to their horror and dismay, what they unearthed was instead an evil version of their friend. Mourning Rhinox's shift to the dark side, they returned to the amphitheater where Optimus revealed that their new mission was to restore nature to Cybertron.Apocalypse
Not long after, the Maximals stumbled upon a subterranean cavern filled with organic bones.SurvivorOnce they moved into thisfossil chamber, they took up residence there as their new base, abandoning the amphitheater. Unbeknownst to any of them, however, the new Rhinox-minded Tankor moved into the amphitheater and used it as his own secret headquarters. The KeyTankor discovered the existence of the legendaryOracle(whom Optimus had already been communing with).SurvivorHe used a reprogrammedDiagnostic Droneto access an ancient program within the Oracle, theKey to Vector Sigma, and then used this Key program to fake his own death. SixTank Dronescarrying the fake Tankor's deactivated body were escorted by the Diagnostic Drone to the amphitheater, where the real Tankor lay in waiting to retrieve the Key program from the corpse. The KeyPlotting to manipulate both sides of the war, Tankor kept tabs on both Optimus and Megatron from afar. However, when his attempts to manipulate Megatron with the Diagnostic Drone were unsuccessful, he used the computer console at the back of the amphitheater to leak information about a catalyst program to Rattrap; said program caused rapid growth to some organic vines from an orchard within the Maximals' new base. The sudden appearance of such potent organic material was enough to convince Megatron to download the Key to Vector Sigma program into all of his Tank Drones. The scheming Tankor stood at the amphitheater's computer in sinister satisfaction that all of his plans were coming together. The Catalyst
With every Tank Drone armed with the Key program, Tankor stood in the amphitheater's stage area and tried to remotely activate the drones... but found they no longer responded to his commands. He then had the Diagnostic Drone use the Oracle to send Optimus a false vision that granted the Maximal leader access to the legendaryPlasma Energy Chamber.Though he never believed Optimus would actually use it, he hoped the mere threat of its use would be enough to have Megatron activate the Key program in retaliation. But during a decisive confrontation between Optimus, Megatron, and Tankor, a desperate, overzealous Optimus surprised them both by unleashing the chamber's power. This sent several streams ofplasma energysurging up to Cybertron's surface, passing through the audience seating sections of the underground amphitheater and all its surroundings.End of the LineOptimus later realized his error in judgement and took all of the plasma energy (as well as all of the Key program's energies) into himself and shot the combined force of energy downward to disperse it all into the Oracle. On its way down, the energy burst passed through several of Cybertron's inner layers, including that of the amphitheather, which was struck hard by the energy burst as it passed through the stage area.Fallout
It was never seen again afterward, and its fate remains unknown following Cybertron'stechnorganic reformatting.Seeds of the Future
