Wes won a day with the recruits by entering an emergency response competition. As he spent time withHot Shot,Hoist,WhirlandMedix,Wes repeatedly approached Wedge and tried to impress the recruit with advice on fixing a hydro-fusion drive, but each time was rebuffed by Wedge, who didn't think he had anything to offer the young human. When there was an emergency in Griffin Rock, Wes charged through theGroundBridgeportal and put himself in danger to rescue some workers and, with Wedge's help, got them all to safety. Wedge, having realised from Wes's journal that he was the boy's favorite recruit, opted to spend some time with him.Driving a Wedge

While talking on his cellphone toCody,Wes accidentally walked into a disused mine and caused a cave in, trapping himself there. The Rescue Bots recruits were called in and managed to extract him from the mine.Screen TimeWes was eventually eligible to take the senior first responder exam and asked Wedge to be his partner for it. Wedge initially agreed, but later told Wes he was unable to make it as his legs were being eaten by Scraplets. Wes persevered with his test, only for Wedge to turn up anyway, and the pair completed the course in record time.
