  • Bumblebee Vol. 2 Retro Pop Highway(3-pack,2018)
  • Movie:Bumblebee
  • ID number:20
  • Accessories:Left & right cannons
Studio SeriesZauru is aredecoofUruaz, utilizing a recreated mold[3]ofHeadmastersZaur,transforming from mini-cassette into anApatosaurus. Two silver cannons plug into the faux cassette tape holes near his hind legs. In tape mode, he fits into the chest compartment of the originalBlasterorSoundwavetoys (and their variousretooledreincarnations).
Zauru can also form the legs of an unnamed humanoid combiner robot withUriad... though it seems more likely he is intended to combine with Uriad's heroic twinDairu. His cannons become hip-mounted weapons in this form.
Despite appearing identical toHeadmastersZaur at first glance, there are a large number of tiny differences in the stickers and molding. The most noteworthy change is that his combined-mode feet have engineering errors; his right foot cannot fold all the way down as intended, but that barely matters as neither foot is actually long enough to touch the ground. His tape-mode top also has some raised "bumps" to make the plastic surrounding the pin-hinges more sturdy, which means his tape sticker has to go over bumps the sticker was never designed to go over. And unlike the original Zaur toy, the four black dinosaur legs are made of die-cast, not plastic. Speaking of stickers, he also uses theVintage G1style ofrubsign, with the full-red symbol and mirror-like silver border.
He was only available in a 2018exclusivebox set, alongside Uriad and a gold redeco ofVW Bumblebee.

Notes

  • Zauru(ザウル) is the direct Romanization ofZaur's original Japanese name. That name is in turn wordplay on a Japanese rendition of "dinosaur".
