On Phobos (a moon ofMars)SkidsandMudflapare posing in front of their newDecepticonfriends. A very unimpressedSoundwavetells the twins he needs theirfullattention during the mission briefing. The former Autobots explain they are risk-taking, free spirited mavericks, not stifled boring grunts (er, no offence guys, stop growling at usRavage!), and retrieving "some throwback" for "re-educating" is hardly a biggie. Soundwave tells them to just go and warns them not to fail him.
The twins leave forEarth.GrindorandSidewaysexpress their distrust and annoyance with the two, but Soundwave explains to them that Skids and Mudflap are merely bait for their target, a dangerous soldier who has survived countless years on Earth. Grindor and Sideways will be waiting to take over once the target is drawn out... and if the twins survive, torectifythat...
OnEarth,Skids and Mudflap bomb down theNorth Carolinacountryside and Skids asks Mudflap if he thinks the Decepticons bought their traitor act. (Mudflap only now learns itwasan act.) Skids' plan is simple: the Decepticons will send someone to keep an eye on their first mission, so all they have to do is capture whoever their shadow is and present him to theAutobots.That should prove they were framed! While Mudflap doubts this, they zero in on their target, hiding in a barn. And that target... reveals himself to beRansack!And he's pissed off to see them!
NESTRegional Command inWyomingpicks up the battle, and it is quickly confirmed that the "two rogues" are present.Ironhidedemands immediate transport for him andSideswipe.
Back at the farm, Ransack is livid to find out the twins don't remember his name. However, Skids cuts the fight short by revealing they'd switched sides, something Ransack knowshas precedent.When the Seeker retorts that he won't give his information to Soundwave's lot and talks only tothe Fallen,the twins quickly lie that the Fallen personally sent them and is currently incapacitated. Ransack, having waited so long to come in from the cold, falls for the ruse and heads off with them.
Grindor and Sideways, watching the three, can barely believe that the twins have succeeded by talking instead of shooting. That sets an example they won't stand for! They start their attack run, Grindor blasting Ransack out of the sky while Sideways aims for the twins. Skids takes on the flier, and sends Mudflap after Sideways, both of them hoping to gain "ascalp"for the Autobots. Mudflap swiftly defeats the 'con car, playing chicken and forcing Sideways to swerve into a tree. While Grindor is able to return fire, Skids can dodge his attacks and aims for the rotors!
Up above, a NEST carrier plane watches the whole thing. While they're unable to land, Ironhide is determined to keep an eye on this situation, while Sideswipe notes with confusion that the twins are fighting the very 'cons they 'aided and abetted'.
Grindor finally decides enough is enough, and carries on with his primary mission: snatching the wounded Ransack and fleeing. The twins have successfully downed Sideways, but Skids (spotting NEST's plane) wants more. He's tired of being on the receiving end... he's going to right back to Soundwave and bring this conspiracy crashing down!

Errors
- Mudflap uses the American English spelling for "offence". This isnot the first timeFurman has undermined the nation's English teachers.
- Grindor's rotor is missing in robot mode.
- When Skids and Mudflap are diving near the barn, the roads change.
- As well as Grindor being the wrong colour again, Ransackchanges his entire colour schemein robot mode.
- Grindor and Sideways are WAY too small compared to the twins.
Notes
- Ransack says he hasn't heard from the Fallen in a long time. This could be an error, as he was shooting at the twins in #2 and said he was under orders from the Fallen, but (as he knows Soundwave) he probably was given orders through Soundwave.
- Soundwave is after Seeker knowledgeagain.Ransack, for his part, seems to recognise no Decepticon command outside the Fallen; since the Decepticon generalscancontact the Fallen, why doesn't Soundwave just bring in Ransack normally and set up a conference call? Whyeverwould a high-ranking Decepticon want to know the location of supremely powerful artifacts if not to tell his leader...?
- The Falleniscurrently incapacitated and the Decepticons know it (see#8), but it appears Mudflap just made a lucky guess.
- In car form, Sideways can fire guns and Mudflap can raise a small forcefield.
- Sideways ends the story defeated and lying in full view of Autobot forces. He's not shown or spoken of in the next issue, however, and obviously he's got to be free to appear inShanghailater. We know the twins just changed their minds and left him, but as far as we can tell NEST did too!

- Rather nifty cover gimmick: there's a hole cut in the cover so it looks like Optimus has shot through Starscream. The top also sticks further up, to better show you canwin!Devastator (which is a pain to scan!).
- Animatedfanart ofBumblebeecan be seen on page 47; the legend lives on. Barricade doesn't like it, though, because it's of a Bumblebee.
- Finallythe letter page refers to the Star Prize as "Law and Disorder Star Prize", not Starscream's star prize.
