Synopsis
Devastator hurls the injured Rodimus Prime away and demands the Enigma of Combination. While Optimus Prime is quick to blame Megatron, the former Decepticon leader points out that if this was his idea he'd have betrayed them already. Ordering Devastator to stand down, Megatron is surprised when Devastator refuses. The enraged combiner yells that they forced the gestalt to split because they all feared him.
Optimus and his group engage Devastator, but are interrupted by the arrival of a new player: Victorion. Devastator switches his attention to her as they struggle over the Enigma. As the battle ensues, the council regroups. The Mistress of Flame insists that they use the Enigma to control the combiners and the others reluctantly agree. Unfortunately Rodimus is too injured to use it, and as a Camien the Mistress is incompatible. This leaves a seemingly reluctant Starscream to take the Enigma and end the conflict. The moment he touches the relic, it releases an enormous shockwave that throws everyone from the tower. It is then that Megatron realizes that everything since Menasor arrived on Caminus has been part of Starscream's long game, gathering the combiners with the goal of using the Enigma to fuse with them and become the ultimate lifeform.

Quotes
"Stars will bloom and die before I'm done killing you."
"Megatron... You never change. While I... have evolved."
- —Megatron and Starscream
Notes
- Like most characters, Devastator uses his Combiner Wars toy as inspiration, though significantly scaled down.
- Victorion, however, hybridizes her toy's design with her IDW appearance.
Animation and technical errors
- When Devastator bends at the waist to talk to Megatron, there is a very conspicuous gap between the combiner's abdomen and upper torso.
- The shards of the window that Devastator breaks through to confront Victorion simply disappear after that shot, they don't fall on the ground or anything.
Continuity notes
- The Mistress is unable to use the Enigma due to her Camien physiology, possibly implying that Victorion is Cybertronian in the continuity, unless it can still be used on Camiens without problem.
- Devastator is established as having existed previously, our first indication in the show that the combination process is actually reversible.
