Fiction
2005 IDW continuity
Four million years ago, a hot spot shaped like a handprint lit up unexpectedly in Alyon. Fearing that its shape would be seen as the hand of Primus and proof of his existence, in turn strengthening the influence of the religious Functionist Council, the Senate kept the hot spot's existence secret and began to experiment on the sparks by showering them with radiation. Orion Pax learned of this and took a group of outliers to Alyon to defend the hot spot, successfully stopping the Senate's plot and safely harvesting the sparks. All Our Parlous Yesterdays
Following Vector Sigma's "resetting" of Cybertron in the modern day, the Alyon hot spot lit up a second time and was discovered by Bludgeon, who began running twisted experiments with the newborn sparks and Trypticon's corrupted energon. Unaware of this, Strafe, Swift, and Barricade simultaneously hatched a plan to plant a truckload of Camien sparks in the Alyon hot spot, finding Cybertron's soil more suited for nurturing sparks than the barren Caminus. While the sparks were destroyed by Bludgeon en route, Strafe, Swift, and the Dinobots discovered that the hot spot was already active and defeated the Decepticon, saving the sparks from his experiments. Redemption
The hot spot was brought to the attention of Starscream, who kept its existence secret and posted guards there until the time was right to harvest the sparks. A few months later, Bludgeon returned to Alyon, slew the guards and stole the sparks away to Trypticon. Salvation
When the Cybertron from the Functionist Universe threatened the primary universe, the crew of the Lost Light realized that they needed to use twelve Matrixes on the planet's twelve hot spots in order to destroy the Functionist Council and stop their onslaught. Riptide, Nickel, and Fulcrum headed to Alyon, where they were met with resistance from the Functionists' forces. After a rousing speech from Rodimus, Riptide was able to open his Matrix, sending its energies to Vector Sigma and obliterating the Functionist Council. A Spark Among Embers
