Duane Bowman is Kevin Bowman's brother. He's also a sergeant in the United States Army, stationed at Hawthorne Army Depot, and also works at the minimart to try and make enough money to support him and his brother. As a youngster he read a lot of science fiction, which has left him more equipped than many to handle the strange new world he's been transported to.

Duane's parents were killed during the Mission City battle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

Several years later, Duane was stationed at the army depot when he gave his brother a call. The call was disrupted by a clanking sound which Kevin claimed was a movie, but they were cut off by a communications blackout that covered all of Nevada. When Reverb attacked the army depot, Duane was among the soldiers who turned out to investigate what was going on, though they stayed well back while the Autobots took on the Decepticon. During the battle, Reverb threw a strange alien cylinder that landed near Duane. Its space-warping effect caused Duane and four other soldiers to vanish, transporting them elsewhere in the Universe. Kevin promised to try and get his brother back. Switching Gears

Duane and his soldiers had been transported to a world they dubbed Blue Planet where they were able to survive with limited ammo and provisions. He promised his men they would get home somehow. Battle Mountain

Not long after their arrival, Duane managed to sprain his ankle. He and his men ambushed two of the wolves that had been pursuing them, and when they discovered that the wolves were robotic, Duane guessed they might be Cybertronian in nature. He attempted to keep morale up among the team as they searched for a way off the planet, trying to avoid the wolves and giant robot centipedes in the process. After returning to their landing point to search, they eventually uncovered another of the cylinders. The surprise arrival of Kevin drew giant robot centipedes to their position, but Duane's brother was able to use the cylinder to transport the humans back to Earth. Duane later provided details of Blue Planet to NEST. Satellite of Doom
