The Transformers

Nobody minds his neon orange barrel.
  • Galvatron (Decepticon City Commander, 1986/1987)
    • Takara ID number: D-62
    • Accessories: Laser Rifle, Particle Cannon, Particle Cannon connector
The Transformers Galvatron transforms into a Cybertronic treaded field artillery unit with an alternate hand-held gun mode.
Galvatron, like the other new characters created for The Transformers: The Movie, was designed for animation first, and his toy was based on these early designs. However, as with the other characters, his animation model underwent further modifications before being finalized. This is particularly noticeable with Galvatron; his toy is in a largely gray color scheme, but his most prominent media appearances in the movie and animated series feature him decked out in a regal shade of purple. His outdated character model and colors would live on over in the Marvel Comics continuity – including a particularly toyetic example in his debut issue – as well as other ancillary media produced to advertise the toy.
Using a 9-volt battery, he features a light-up barrel in cannon or gun mode, light-up eyes in robot mode, and three different electronic warbly noises in all of his modes. Galvatron is notable as one of the most well-articulated toys in the Generation 1 line, with ratcheting shoulders and hips, as well as swivel waist, elbows, mid-biceps, knees, and ankle joints. He was also armed with a small, black laser rifle. In Japan, he was released as part of the Scramble City sub-line.

WHO CHANGED MY COLORS?! Actually, it feels… right.
  • Galvatron (Reissue, 2005)
    • ID number: D-62-S
    • Accessories: Laser Rifle, Particle Cannon, Particle Cannon connector, Matrix of Leadership w/ chain
The original Galvatron toy was much later redecoed and re-released by Takara into a sort-of more show-like appearance, being primarily purple instead of gray. His face mold was slightly retooled into a more angry, sneering expression, and his electronics were totally overhauled, now running on two AA batteries instead of a 9-volt. Gone are his three different electronic squeals: the three positions of Galvatron's sliding switch now denote a singular laser noise, the transformation sound effect (played forwards and backwards), and five speech clips by his Japanese voice actor, Seizō Katō: "Wa-ha-ha-ha, kono orokamono-me!" (Bwah ha ha ha! You fools!), "Eei, Cybertron o hineri-tsubuse!" (Hrr--crush the Autobots!), "Kono yaku-tatazu mono ga!" (You're all useless!), "Eei, hakai shite kureru wa!" (Grrah, I'll destroy you!), and "Destron gundan, transform!" (Decepticon army, transform!). He also comes with a golden redeco of the die-cast Matrix of Leadership accessory previously included with New Year Special Convoy, which features a small removable chain that allows it to hang around his neck, as seen in the film.
This version of the mold was later redecoed into the original toy's colors for the e-HOBBY-exclusive Galvatron II, with a new speech clip.

Universe (2008)

(thumbnail)
And there… on the shoulder… was a HOOK!
  • Galvatron (Deluxe Class, 2008)
    • Series: Classic Series
    • Accessories: Missile
Universe Galvatron transforms into a tank reminiscent of the Israel Weapons Industries Merkava main battle tank with some design elements taken from Megatron's old Neutro-Fusion Tank. On the tank turret is the slogan "GALV-25", in reference to the Transformers brand's 25th anniversary.
This toy has many undocumented features in the form of small moving parts that play no role in either mode; most conspicuous are two articulated feet for the tank mode. In one of the Hasbro Q&A sessions, it was confirmed that these are remnants of an early design version of Galvatron, which would have been at a larger size class and featured a third mode as a "walking tank." It is still possible to manipulate his parts into a mode greatly resembling the original concept design.
There were several odd paint choices used on this figure. The left arm is molded in purple plastic to properly match the rest of the robot mode… but is then painted over in tank-mode grey paint, even though the arm is not visible in tank mode at all. The vehicle mode's wheels are molded in the same translucent orange as the cannon, and then painted over with a slightly different shade of orange. Hasbro lead designer Bill Rawley commented at BotCon 2010 that these must have been paint-assignment errors.
Galvatron's transformation is almost insanely complex for a Deluxe Class figure–and in addition, the toy is notorious for having poor plastic tolerances that make it prone to simply falling apart during transformation.
Hasbro's print advertisement for this figure (featuring Galvatron in combat with Sideswipe) depicts it with the right arm held away from the body and pointing upwards… which is a pose the toy cannot actually assume, short of digital manipulation and/or breaking and creatively gluing the arm.
Galvatron has a peculiar 5mm peg smack dab on the top of his turret, which allows him to be held in a most hilarious fashion by other Transformers who can manage the clearance around the turret's fin.

Now in strait-jacket white.
  • Challenge at Cybertron (Deluxe Class 3-pack, 2010)
    • Series: G1 Series
    • Accessories: Missile
A redeco of Universe Galvatron was released in the "Challenge at Cybertron" multi-pack along with redecoes of Cyclonus and Rodimus, with the light grey more closely resembling its Marvel and G1 toy form. Bizarrely enough, this redeco is frequently said to have even more stability problems than the original version.
The set was exclusively released in Hasbro's Southeast Asian markets by Hasbro Malaysia, but was never officially available in Hasbro's Western markets.

Henkei! Henkei!

(thumbnail)
About ten years too late to be the No Limit Records logo.
  • Galvatron (Deluxe Class, 2008-11-20)
    • ID number: D-06
    • Accessories: Missile
Henkei! Henkei! Galvatron is a redeco of Universe Galvatron. As with all Henkei releases, TakaraTomy have attempted to make the toy better resemble his cartoon counterpart, so most of the bright orange plastic from the Universe toy is now black. The shade of purple used on Henkei Galvatron is the lighter, lavender shade commonly seen on Takara's Galvatron toys, rather than the deeper purple seen on Hasbro's Galvatron toys. The left arm now retains the "correct" robot-mode plastic color, instead of being painted over in tank colors as the Hasbro version was. The gray is also lighter and a cooler shade of gray than the warm shade used on the Hasbro version.
Galvatron features vacuum-metallized plastic, though in Galvatron's case it is the most random and illogical usage of the gimmick yet in the Henkei toyline. Galvatron's entire tank turret and the equipment on the vehicle side skirts are vacuum-metallized silver, making him one hell of a blingin' tank. His six-pack… errr, four-pack abs are likewise covered in reddish chrome, a design choice that had also been used on the 2005 "anime-colored" G1 Galvatron reissue and on Energon Galvatron.
Also of note, the box art on the back of the packaging shows the mythical third "turret" mode, but has no instructions on how to convert the toy into it.

"Electrum Galvatron" is every bot's worst nightmare
  • Galvatron (Gold Version) (Lucky Draw figure, 2008)
    • ID number: D-06
    • Accessories: Missile
Offered through a TV Magazine contest in late 2008 alongside a "Lucky Draw" Optimus Prime, this golden-chromed Galvatron was limited to five pieces.

Mmm, grape-flavored hard candy.
  • Decepticon Set (3-pack, 2011)
    • Accessories: Missile
Dubbed "Galvatron Purple Clear Version", this redeco of the Universe Galvatron mold is cast in transparent purple plastics, emulating the scene in The Transformers: The Movie where Megatron is reformatted into Galvatron.
This version was only available in an e-HOBBY exclusive 3-pack with clear-plastic versions of Cyclonus, Nightstick, and Scourge. Preorders for the set were opened on December 13, 2010, and closed on January 11, 2011, and shipped in April.
This figure was available with a Galvatron pin and Macrocosmic Seekers booklet directly from e-HOBBY, he was also released in Asian countries outside of Japan without said pin and booklet.

Alternity

(thumbnail)
More fast, still furious.
  • Galvatron [Galvanize Purple] (2012)
    • ID number: A-02G
    • Accessories: 2 swords
The Alternity Galvatron toy is a metallic purple redeco of Alternity Megatron, transforming into a 1:32 scale model of a Nissan 370Z and featuring die-cast metal parts and rubber tires. The figure wields two swords which can be pegged at its hips or stored under the car in vehicle mode, and each forearm features a flip-out blade. Galvatron was sold as a Toy Hobby Market exclusive.
This toy was repurposed as Purple Megatron in Generations Selects Special Comic.

Kre-O

(thumbnail)
Normally, it looks like a Kreon posed in a way that very vaguely resembles a cannon, but if you squint you can- Oh, forget it! Who am I kidding?
  • Galvatron (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2012)
    • Kit number: A1008
    • Bag number: 21451 8
    • Accessories: Arm cannon
Part of a six-figure preview wave of Micro-Changer Kreons, Kre-O Galvatron is a blindpacked bagged mini-figure. He comes with extra parts which help him form a crude artillery cannon form. He has a purple redeco of Sentinel Prime's helmet, an orange redeco of Megatron's fusion cannon and his body armor comes from Battleship US soldier Kreons.

FOOLS! Galvatron can have any accessory he wants!
  • Galavatron [sic] (Custom Kreon, 2014)
    • Set number: A7316
    • Pieces: 42
    • Accessories: Rack, arm-cannon, drill-cannon, blade, club, large rifle, missile-backpack, small wing-pack, spare hand
Part of the second assortment of "Custom Kreons", Galvatron comes with a buildable parts rack on which to hang/store his many many extra pieces. The plastics of his torso, arms and legs have a metal-flake sheen, and his similarly-shiny tampographs are far more detailed than the original Kreon. His "normal" helmet and blade are chromed, plus he comes with an extra clear-plastic helmet, torso and legs. He also has a pair of extra arms (originally from the Kre-O Battleship aliens), plus a buildable combination drill/gatling cannon, a club (that can also accommodate the blade), a large rifle, a dual-missile backpack, and the Wheeljack-style wing-pack.
His name is misspelled in his packaging. Oops.
Though widely solicited, this wave of Custom Kreons ultimately never saw release outside of the Hasbro Toy Shop online store and Chinese-market distribution circles.

Generations

(thumbnail)
Because YOU tell him he's not "special."
  • Specialist: Decepticons (March 25, 2014)
    • Accessories: Missile
This redeco of the Universe Galvatron toy was aimed at being even more show-accurate than the Henkei version shown above. Galvatron now features metallic blue paint on most of his robot body and metallic red on his abdominal plates. His cannon barrel is completely unpainted and translucent, likewise to better resemble both the show and the original toy. He now has Decepticon insignias on his robot chest and tank turret, for the first time in the history of the mold. It also has the distinction on being the only version of the mold to have a metallic purple turret, further increasing screen accuracy.
All promotional photographs of this piece showed it deliberately mistransformed in vehicle mode, with the cannon left stretched above the turret, apparently to make it look more show-accurate less like a real-world tank.
Galvatron was sold as part of a "Specialist: Decepticons" giftset alongside Astrotrain and Octane. This was a Hasbro Asian market release, with the packaging and paperwork entirely in English.

Titans Return

(thumbnail)
Turn his "jet mode" upside down and it's a gun—PASS IT ON!
  • Nucleon & Galvatron (Voyager Class, 2016)
    • Series / Number: ?
    • Accessories: 'Nucleon' Titan Master partner, cannon
Galvatron is a Voyager-class mold as part of the Titans Return subline imprint, partially inspired by Guido Guidi's design from Spotlight: Galvatron. He transforms into his original cannon mode and also has a third mode as a space fighter. He includes a "Nucleon" Titan Master partner that can turn into the robot's head, or can pilot the vehicle modes. Like many of the weapons in the Titans Return line, his particle cannon features a cockpit for a Titan Master figure; it is undocumented in his instructions, but can be found by simply flipping up the back of the weapon.
Like all Titans Return Voyager-class figures, Galvatron has a spring-loaded pop-out adornment to "bulk up" his head to slightly more appropriate proportions. In his case, it's a "mask" of sorts that consists of his signature crown and chinstrap that swings out of his chest. Unfortunately, it doesn't sit flush against his face due to the mask's overall thickness, and has minimal neck articulation, which has the effect of immobilizing the head pretty much entirely. Initial prototypes of the figure showed Nucleon with purple paint applications to help blend in with the surrounding mask, but the retail version is entirely unpainted grey plastic. The Takara Legends release however, features the same paint mask as the prototypes.
Many samples of this mold suffer from the running Titan Master design flaw, leading to loose or overly-tight neck ports. Several purple parts of the figure are in fact black plastic painted purple, the shade of which is visually mismatched to the actual purple plastic.
The promotional images for this figure depict a different sculpt for the crown-mask. This tooling lasted late enough in the development process that it surfaced on some prototypes. According to John Warden, the mold included a pretooled alternate head which was "an animated Galvatron", and a toy-based silver version of the figure had been conceptualised, but neither of these possibilities were followed through on.[1]
Galvatron was retooled into Generations Selects Super Megatron.

Legends

You knew what color TakaraTomy was going to use, didn't you?
  • Galvatron (July 23, 2016)
    • ID number: LG23
    • Accessories: Megatron Headmaster, cannon
Legends Galvatron is a redeco of the Titans Return mold, featuring a lighter shade of purple, and additional paint details. Galvatron's Headmaster, Megatron, features paint applications to resemble his appearances in the cartoon, while his Headmaster mode features silver paint on his face, and some purple details.
Legends Galvatron comes with a leaflet featuring a character profile, tech specs, and Bonus Edition Vol. 23 of the Legends manga.

Platinum Edition

(thumbnail)
THIS MOLD AGAIN? AND WHERE IS MY 5MM COMPATIBLE LEFT HAND? CYCLONUS HAS THEM!!!
  • Rise of Rodimus Prime (Platinum Edition 2-pack, 2017)
    • Accessories: Gun, Missile, Matrix of Leadership
Part of Hasbro's Platinum Edition offerings for 2016 intended to commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Transformers: The Movie, this Galvatron is another redeco of the 2008 Universe Deluxe Class figure, meant to be in "movie-accurate" colors but attempting so in a manner slightly different from previous versions. Notably, it features the return of the "mistaken" tank mode paint color on the left arm. It also uses the Decepticon insignia from the live-action film series instead of the Generation 1 variety.
Galvatron was available as part of a 2-pack with Rodimus Prime (a redeco of the Titanium Series figure), aptly named "Rise of Rodimus Prime", which also contained a Matrix of Leadership accessory, a redeco of the Matrix originally included with Masterpiece MP-10 Convoy/Optimus Prime which Galvatron can loosely hold in his right hand.
Like several of the 2016 Platinum Edition sets, "Rise of Rodimus Prime" saw a very limited release: Basically, the two-pack was released in some of Hasbro's Asian markets, was stocked by some online retailers in the United States that obtain their stock through Asian vendors (such as BigBadToyStore and TFSource), and aside from that apparently only ever saw a wider release in Brazil, of all places, where it was also first officially revealed by Hasbro at ABRIN (the Brazilian Toy Fair) in April of 2016. That's it. The set never saw an official Hasbro-initiated release in the United States.

War for Cybertron Trilogy

(thumbnail)
Oh look, an appetizer!
War for Cybertron Trilogy Unicron comes with a minuscule figurine of Galvatron, only about 10 millimeters tall. The original announcement showed a sculpt based on Galvatron's Titans Return design, in three colors, but the final released figurine was based on the G1 design, in a single color. Due to this toy's tiny size and the fact that it is completely painted, many of its details are indistinct. Also in comparison to the prototype seen in a hobby magazine, the space between the arms and torso is held by a thin plastic burr, mainly to prevent fragility.

(thumbnail)
CLEARly what Unicron has envisioned in his creation.
(thumbnail)
Revenge of FOMO.
"Behold, Galvatron!" is a redeco of Kingdom Galvatron meant to represent the sequence of Galvatron's creation in The Transformers: The Movie. The figure and its traditional accessories are now cast in translucent purple plastic, ornamented with white printed detailing.
Galvatron includes a Unicron Companion Pack meant to be added to the immense War for Cybertron Trilogy Unicron toy. This companion pack includes small painted ships of the Revenge (a different sculpt than Galvatron's hand weapons), a Quintesson ship, and the Junkions' Minnow; each of these ships can be mounted on the small clear stand included with Unicron. In addition, it includes 14 tiny mini-figures, listed above, thus filling out the set begun with the Galvatron and Rodimus included with Unicron and the Optimus Prime included with the Centurion droid. These mini-figures can also be placed in the bridge of Kingdom Autobot Ark's starship mode.
This set is exclusive to Hasbro Pulse and was officially revealed on October 22, 2021 at Hasbro Pulse Con 2021, with a scheduled release date of March 1, 2022, though it actually hit retail in Asia in December 2021. Orders were limited to one per customer.

War for Cybertron: Kingdom

(thumbnail)
I shall provide you with a new body, and, 35 years later, a neck.
The sole new release in the third wave of Kingdom Leader Class toys, Galvatron transforms from an extremely accurate robot into a treaded, tripod "Galactic cannon" in 33 steps.[3] In first, by concealing the base of the cannon within the robot torso, the toy's transformation manages to depict the purple-upper body-to-grey-cannon trick as seen in the animation, a design goal since the 2008 Universe toy. The rear "leg" of the cannon is on multiple hinges, allowing the toy to aim at different elevations. He features printed light purple "battle damage" on his upper torso along with opaque orange "particle" effects at the base of his cannon barrel, and painted battle damage on his lower legs, similar to figures from the previous two War for Cybertron Trilogy toylines. As part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System/F.O.S.S.I.L. Technology, Galvatron has multiple 5 mm ports, though it is missing 3 mm posts on his body for Fire Blast effects.
Galvatron's particle beam cannon can be mounted onto multiple 5 mm ports, including his forearm or upper arm, or separated into two pieces for cannon mode. He also includes the Matrix of Leadership, modified from the one first included with Earthrise Optimus Prime. The changed molding allows it to mount onto an included chain via a 5mm post, which can rest around his neck or attach at the base of the cannon barrel in his alternate mode. Galvatron also includes two unpainted grey War for Cybertron Trilogy Unicron-scaled Revenge ships that Galvatron can hold as blasters, combine into a larger gun, store on his back (at two-different heights), or attach parallel to the barrel in his cannon mode.
While the treads on his arms can be securely locked into holes in the shoulders, doing this restricts arm articulation. His feet have flip-out heel extensions, though they're hardly needed since he's heavy enough to be sturdy in most poses. Tip: The ankle tilts are slightly restricted due to the engineering in his legs. Untabbing the purple clips below his knees should help get more tiltage.
Earlier specimens of Galvatron have a misassembly in the robot shoulders: the center joint is installed upside-down, causing the shoulders to sit lower than intended. The height issue can be somewhat corrected by using the reversible transformation joint to have the back of the shoulders face forward instead, but this results in flathead pins being left prominently exposed, while adding one more extra step on the transformation. The holes the pins are placed in are 5mm compatible, so you may be able to use the misassembly to your advantage. A running change later fully corrected the shoulder assembly; the condition of the shoulders is visible in packaged specimens.[5]
Much like most of the toyline, Galvatron comes with one of four possible holographic Golden Disk cards for his wave, which reveals a possible destiny of a key character. Specifically, Megatron's destiny for his wave is becoming Galvatron.

Gee, I wonder which side the GIANT SPACE LASER CANNON is on.
  • Galvatron (Leader Class, 2021)
    • Series: War for Cybertron: Kingdom
    • Hasbro ID number: WFC-GS27
    • TakaraTomy name: Galvatron (ガルバトロン)
    • TakaraTomy release date: 2022 March 26
    • Accessories: Two-piece Particle Beam cannon, Matrix of Leadership, chain, 2 "side cannons"/Revenge ships
A Generations Selects add-on to Kingdom, this version of Galvatron is a redeco of the above Leader Class figure in Generation 1 toy-accurate colors. It includes sparkly plastic on the cannon barrel, a factory-applied classic Decepticon rubsign, and an optional sticker sheet to mimic the details of the G1 toy. The instruction manual does not depict one of Galvatron's forehead stickers or any of those for his belt, and it also suggests applying his cannon-mode insignias in a way that would leave them upside down. The Matrix of Leadership is now green, to represent the Creation Matrix as depicted in the original Marvel comic and the Galvatron II toy (and by extension, the Star Power Creation Matrix).
The red blocks atop his shoulders are entirely painted, making their pegs at risk for scraping during transformation.
This figure was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan.

  • Known designers: AJ Piejko-Brown (packaging)
Part of the first wave of Legacy Leader Class toys, Galvatron is a package refresh of the previous Kingdom figure above in Legacy packaging.
The figure is missing the battle damage from the Kingdom release (claimed by Hasbro to be due to "buyer feedback"), making him appear more cartoon-accurate as a result, and the paint on the cannon barrel has been removed as well.

Ain't these tears in my eyes tellin' you?
  • Galvatron (Leader Class, 2025)
Kingdom Galvatron was redecoed again for the Studio Series '86 line, now featuring a more movie-accurate color scheme with metallic blue-purple, dark gray instead of black, light gray instead of silver, an opaque plastic cannon barrel, and a brighter orange on the Matrix. He reuses the backdrop art of Coronation Starscream depicting the Hall of Heroes but with Astrotrain, Thrust, and Ramjet added in.
Interestingly, he has the ID number 86-31, which he shares with Commander Class Optimus Prime. Later, when asked about it on Instagram, designer Evan Brooks confirmed that it was an error.[8] His packaging art is reused from the Legacy release and, unusually for Studio Series, uses the alternate mode instead of the robot mode on the front of the box.
Galvatron was revealed at New York Comic Con 2024.

Watchtron

(thumbnail)
Not only do I tell time, I defy it as well.
  • Galvatron (Watch, 1986, 1993)
    • Japanese ID number: W-3
Galvatron was one of three characters released as digital watches in Japan by Takara in 1986 to promote the Scramble City toyline (the others being Ultra Magnus & Superion). Cross-promoted in TV Magazine's manga as a wrist-communicator, "Watchtron" (ウォッチトロン) Galvatron is a small representation of the character with a clock in his chest. With the push of a lever he "transformed" into a full tiny figure complete with legs, standing up on the watch band. The figure cannot be removed from the watch, but the arms do rotate.
The cannon barrel can detach and is very easily lost.
Takara originally planned a North American release of the Galvatron watch toy in 1986 and photographs of it were shown in their 1986 US product catalog. For unknown reasons, its intended 1986 release in the US was cancelled. It eventually came out as part of Generation 2.

Transformers Choco

Tfchoco galvatron.jpg
  • Galvatron (1986)
Released in the fourth Transformers 2010-centric wave of Kabaya's line of Transformers Choco candy toys, this version of Galvatron is a small, transformable model kit made of one solid color plastic, available in various colors including blue, red and green. As with all the Transformers Choco figures, he came with "Chocolate Dots", small candies similar to M&Ms.
Though not depicted in this photo, it is possible to mount Galvatron's cannon barrel on his arm in robot mode.

Transformers Gum

(thumbnail)
To the candy store! To be a winner! Because I believe in me!
  • Galvatron (1986)
    • Accessories: Laser rifle, particle cannon, particle cannon connector
Galvatron also had a presence in Kabaya's line of larger Transformers Gum model kits. Released as part of the line's fifth wave, Galvatron is molded in red, silver, and black plastic, lacking in paint applications but featuring stickers for detail. Like most Transformers Gum model kits, Galvatron is essentially a downsized version of the regular toy, featuring all its accessories. As the name suggests, rather than chocolate, Galvatron came with a stick of gum.

Transformers Milk Caramel

  • Galvatron (1986)
A small glow-in-the-dark rubber figurine of Galvatron—known in Japan as a keshigomu—was released as part of Kabaya's Transformers 2010-themed assortment of Transformers Milk Caramel candy toys. Galvatron came with chocolate-covered caramel candies, and was available in red, yellow, blue and green.

Transformers Ramune

(thumbnail)
Cyclonus!!! This is not my Particle Cannon! Where is it!?
  • Galvatron (1986)
While no figure of Galvatron was released by Hasbro as part of their 1987 Decoy promotion, the Decepticon leader did have a soft rubber figure crafted in his image that was available exclusive in Japan, as part of a second wave of the figures released there by Kabaya, along with other Transformers 2010 characters. Like the other figures in this series, Galvatron was sold in a blindpacked box as part of the Transformers Ramune series, and was available in multiple colors, including red, blue and yellow.

Forms Robo

FormsRoboGalvatron.jpeg
  • Galvatron (1987)
Galvatron was also part of the small Forms Robo collection of larger rubber figures, with this version of the character standing at around twice the height of a regular Decoy. Like the other figures in this series, Galvatron was packaged in an individual baggie and was available in red, blue, green, grey, and yellow.

Seven

(thumbnail)
Check out my paint job!
  • Rodimus Convoy vs Galvatron (multi-pack, 1986)
A vinyl figurine of Galvatron, in a primarily-grey toy-based color scheme, was released by Seven and sold in a two-pack with a similar figure of Rodimus Prime. It featured articulation at the shoulders.

  • Ultra Magnus vs Galvatron (multi-pack, 1987)
The vinyl Galvatron figurine was also later made available in a two-pack with the Transform Jr Ultra Magnus figure, along with a die-cast figurine of Metroplex.

Talkformers

(thumbnail)
I never had these shoulder pads! I was never that thin! Was Cyclonus trying to make me a clone of himself while I was asleep?! AND WHERE IS MY PARTICLE CANNON?!?!?!?!?!
  • Galvatron (1986)
    • ID number: T-02
This vinyl figurine of Galvatron was one of two entries in the Talkformers line. Featuring only two points of articulation in the shoulders, it spoke four pullstring-activated Japanese phrases, spoken by Galvatron's Japanese voice actor, Seizō Katō. These four phrases were later recycled for the 2006 reissue of the original Galvatron toy.

Super High-Breed Model

(thumbnail)
I can't transform? This is YOUR fault, Cyclonus!
  • Galvatron (1987, 1997)
Galvatron was one of three non-transforming Super High-Breed Model vinyl figurines created in 1987 by Takara. Standing at about eight inches tall and featuring articulation in the neck and shoulders, Galvatron and his fellows (Rodimus Prime and Arcee) were based on their Studio OX character models, featuring much more anime-styled proportions and detailing.
While the mass-market release of the Super High-Breed Model line was cancelled, Galvatron eventually saw the light of day as the exclusive toy for BotCon Japan 1997. The figure was initially available in two versions: "standard" purple and a translucent orange "lava bath" version limited to 100 pieces. In subsequent years, at least two more versions of this figure would be released for online sale: one that replaced the orange paint on the cannon barrel with an orange molded plastic piece, and another that replaced the entire purple body coloration with royal blue.
Very rarely, specimens from the intended 1987 release will surface on the secondary market. That version of Galvatron can be distinguished by the Decepticon insignia on its chest, and also by its cardboard box packaging instead of clear plastic.

Parody Deformed

(thumbnail)
I was this short in Japan? Damn.
  • Galvatron (1990)
A small solid blue, non-transforming super deformed model kit of Galvatron was available as part of Kabaya's "Parody Deformed" line of candy toys. The fifth figure of the fourth wave (the nineteenth figure overall), he came with a "PDTF Comic" comic about himself, "Two In One! Lord Galvatron", and Chocolate Dots.

  • Galvatron (March 2001)
    • Act: 2
    • Accessories: Stand
A three-inch tall PVC figurine of Galvatron was available in the second wave of Takara's Super Collection Figure line. Like all the figures in the Act, it was available as both a standard full color figure and a colorless translucent version, one of each of which was available in a standard case of twelve blindpacked figures.

SCF Galvatron metallic.jpg
  • Galvatron (February 2002)
    • Act: 6
    • Accessories: Stand
The Galvatron figurine was redecoed in a metallic paint scheme for the sixth Act of the Super Collection Figure series, where it was available as a rare "Secret Figure" included in only one case out of every ten. Cases with the metallic Galvatron (or the Act's other "Secret Figure" Dirge) did not come with parts for the Act's "build-a-figure" Grand Maximus.
This Act was seemingly in shorter supply than the others before and since, and is not terribly common on the secondary market.

Heroes of Cybertron

HOC Galvatron.jpg
  • Galvatron (2003)
Released in the third wave of Hasbro's Heroes of Cybertron line, Galvatron is a redeco of the SCF figure, cast entirely in clear-red plastic then painted over save his eyes and a small spot on the back of his skull, giving him a light-piping-like glowing eye effect.
He was sold in blister packaging rather than a blind-packed box, and included a character card.

MyClone

He will kill you with adorability.
  • Galvatron (2003)
    • ID number: MTF015
    • Accessories: Purple display stand
Released in the second wave of the MyClone line of Transformers PVC figures, this super deformed Galvatron comes with a hexagonal purple display stand, which can link up with the identical stands included with other MyClone figures. His modular design allows his parts to be mixed and matched with those of any other MyClone figure.
Purchasers of MyClone Galvatron also ran the chance of finding within the box not the standard cartoon-colours figure, but a translucent orange "lava" chase figure, paying homage to Galvatron's plasma bath from "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2".

Generation 1 Figure-Collection

(thumbnail)
How dare Pepsi Convoy?!
  • Galvatron (2003)
    • ID number: D-5
    • Accessories: Display base
At only one inch in height, this Galvatron "bottlecap" figurine (so named because its display base is the size of a bottlecap) was one of fourteen blindpacked figures available in Kabaya's Transformers Generation 1 Figure-Collection. The figure was rendered in a "retro" black and white color scheme, and came with a leaflet, personalized with cartoon screen captures.

Titanium Series

(thumbnail)
"This pose is too crazy, even for ME!!!"
  • Galvatron (3-inch Robot Masters, 2006)
    • Accessories: Display base
Titanium Galvatron is a 3-inch-tall, non-transforming, die-cast metal figurine. He is based heavily on his cartoon model and has articulation in his neck, waist, shoulders, and wrists. His orange cannon and right arm from the elbow down are also removable.

First 4 Figures

  • Galvatron (2006/2007 unreleased)
Intended for release in First 4 Figures' "Generation One" series, this would have been a full body resin statue of Galvatron. His digital sculpt was first shown to the toy press at New York Toy Fair in February 2006;[9] First 4 Figures allowed BigBadToyStore to solicit him for sale the same month.[10][11]
Unfortunately, Galvatron and the rest of the "Generation One" series were casualties of the general discontinuation of First 4 Figures' Transformers output, which was attributed to a challenging market and a lack of retailer support.

Sota Toys

  • Transformers Chess Set (2007)
A Galvatron piece was to be the Decepticon-side Queen on a chess set based on Generation 1, but the set apparently never saw release.

Robot Heroes

"Hi, I'm better than you."
"Yeah, but I'm crazier than you."
  • Sunstreaker & Galvatron (Two-pack, 2008)
Part of the "Generation 1 Series" label of Universe-branded Robot Heroes, Galvatron is an adorably insane super-deformed figurine with articulation at the neck and shoulders. Glitch-tastically, he has a red movie-style Decepticon symbol. He was only available alongside Sunstreaker.

Transformers - Mini Bust

What Zarak meant by "we shall see..."
  • Galvatron (Diamond Select, 2008)
The first large Galvatron merchandise item to see release in U.S. markets was this bust, sculpted by Art Asylum and released by Diamond Select Toys in 2008. It is a static depiction of Galvatron's head and collar region, limited to 1,000 pieces.

Hadooken!
  • Galvatron (Diamond Select, 2009)
Released by Diamond Select Toys in 2009, Galvatron was sculpted by Mark Wong of Art Asylum and limited to 1,000 pieces. He has his particle cannon posed forward either at an Autobot or perhaps one of his own underlings. His base is the planet devouring Unicron who originally created him from the dying Megatron.

Tiny Titans

(thumbnail)
Gee Galvatron, why does Unicron let you have two guns?
  • Galvatron (Tiny Titans, 2015)
    • Series: 4
    • Number: 10/12
Part of the fourth assortment of Tiny Titans blindpacks, this version of Galvatron is a very small, soft-plastic figure of him in robot mode.
He includes a collectible card that renders him in the 2015 Robots in Disguise styling. The card includes a scan-badge for the Robots in Disguise mobile game, which unlocks a random amount of Energon "currency" and a randomized bonus power-up item.
This wave saw fairly minimal release at "big box" retailers, but unlike other waves, was not picked up by drug stores and the like later, making them particularly hard to find.

Imaginarium Art

  • Galvatron (2018)
Imaginarium Art circulated images of a prototype Galvatron statue to join their roster of large, insanely expensive products. Their design for Galvatron was based off a mixture of the Titans Return toy above and his appearance in "Spotlight: Galvatron". Ultimately it was never released.

ReAction

(thumbnail)
Meanie Baby
  • Galvatron (2021)
Released in the fourth wave of Super7's line of multi-property 3.75-inch "retro" action figures, ReAction Galvatron is a non-converting 3 3/4-inch action figure based on his appearance in the original cartoon, with five points of articulation (swivel neck, shoulders, hips) and holes in his feet for use with some variety of stand. As he comes with no accessories (his arm cannon is permanently affixed to his right arm), both of his hands are closed fists, a rarity at this point in the line.
As with all releases in the ReAction toyline, Galvatron comes packaged on a small cardback that emulates the nostalgic packaging style of Kenner's Star Wars action figures from the late 1970s to early '80s.

  • Galvatron G1 (2022)
This redeco of ReAction Galvatron is now colored to more closely resemble the original Galvatron toy, being mainly light gray with purple accents. The cannon barrel is even cast in translucent orange plastic.
He was released as part of the fifth round of Target-exclusive ReAction figures, alongside the similarly-toy-based "Grimlock G2" figure.
Internal Target computer listings showed this figure as originally named "Galvatron Retro."

Eaglemoss

EaglemossChess Galvatron.jpg
  • Transformers Gen-1 Chess Set (2021)
In the planned Transformers Chess Set by Eaglemoss, a relatively large and very well detailed statue of Galvatron was slated to be the replacement King piece on the Decepticon side.
A Kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds for this project was launched, but failed to meet its goal by September 24, 2021 and the whole thing was canceled.

Transformers Character Card

Transformers Character Card Rodimus and Galvatron.jpg
  • Rodimus Convoy & Galvatron Set (March 14, 2022)
    • ID number: 05 & 06
Released as part of the second wave of the e-HOBBY exclusive Transformers Character Card series, this pair of holographic trading cards depict super-deformed art of Rodimus Prime and Galvatron along with character profiles and tech specs.

Minimates

(thumbnail)
I WILL RULE GAMESTOP!
  • Galvatron (Series 3, 2022)
    • Accessories: Particle cannon, stand
Diamond Select's third assortment of Transformers Minimates included a 2-inch-tall non-transforming Galvatron figurine, featuring 12-14 points of articulation and able to interchange its accessories and body parts with other Minimates. Galvatron was packed on a single blister card along with the rest of the wave 3 assortment.

Milestone

(thumbnail)
I belong to nobody!
  • Galvatron (2022)
After more than a decade, Diamond Select advertised another Galvatron statue - this time a full-body "Milestone" statue standing over 16 inches tall. Designed by Mark Wong, the statue was to be limited to 1,000 pieces with a retail price of $500. It was ultimately unproduced.

Ultimetal

(thumbnail)
Animetal
  • Galvatron (2022)
    • ID Number: S-02
    • Accessories: Rifle, Matrix of Leadership necklace, stand
First revealed at the Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong 2021 expo, Ultimetal Galvatron is a highly articulated 12" figure made extensively from die-cast metal. And by "extensively," we mean about 4 pounds of it. This figure has fewer moving parts and action features than its assortment-partner Ultimetal Rodimus Prime but reaches the same price point through far more metal mass. The figure is sculpted to resemble his anime-styled Studio OX character model, while also including a rifle based on the accessory from the original G1 toy. The arm cannon lights up via LED.
In addition to the instruction manual, a separate card warns owners that they must manually pull Galvatron's hips down and away from his pelvis before posing him, or else his codpiece will scratch the paint off his upper legs.
The package blurb describing Galvatron is a very close paraphrase of his writeup from Transformers: More than Meets the Eye, right down to the opinions from other characters.

R.E.D. [Robot Enhanced Design]

(thumbnail)
Galvabling? Blingalvatron?
  • Galvatron (2022)
    • Accessories: Matrix of Leadership on chain, half-open hands (2), fully open hands (2), Fire Blast effects (2), grid backdrop
Part of the sixth wave of Transformers R.E.D. figures, Galvatron is a 6-inch tall non-transforming action figure based directly on his cartoon/movie appearance. He includes his Matrix of Leadership necklace, three different sets of interchangeable hands in various poses, and a freestanding backdrop depicting the scrolling line grid during his creation sequence in the animated movie. Bizarrely, the protruding purple kneepads of his boots are molded as part of his thighs, which is not how Galvatron's boots normally work.
Product renders on the packaging show a different cannon sculpt, lacking the nib on the end for attaching blast effects.
Like all R.E.D. figures, he is a Walmart exclusive in the US and Canada, also available on Hasbro Pulse in limited quantities.

Pop!

Like a reverse Grand Galvatron.
  • Rodimus & Galvatron (2-pack, 2023)
Available in a 2-pack with Rodimus at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 and also the Funko website, Pop! Galvatron is a vinyl figure based on his original Generation 1 toy. Despite that, the pack is branded as Pop! Television instead of Retro Toys, which would've made more sense for it. The pack also doesn't feature an ID number, which is a rarity among Funko Pop! vinyls.

Jada Toys

  • Transformers Series 3 18-pack (4cm Die Cast Figure Multipack, 2023)
Released by Jada Toys, Nano Metalfigs Galvatron is an incredibly small die-cast figurine molded doing an action pose. He has a little base attached to his feet for balancing reasons.
He comes in an impressive multipack with seventeen other figurines.

Mini World

(thumbnail)
Origami therapy - our final option.
  • Galvatron (2023)
    • Accessories: Transforming base; gun; Matrix of Leadership
This version of Galvatron is a tie-in to the popular Chinese game "Mini World". It comes with an interactive display base which can fold up into a cube-shaped rough representation of his cannon mode. The figure can store fully inside the cube, or you can install the head on top of the cube. The package art depicts the figure's gun in the traditional orange color, but the final product is grey.
This figure was exclusively released through TMall, a subsidiary of Alibaba; it was available both individually and as part of a giftset with the rest of the "Mini World" Transformers.

XM Studios

  • Galvatron (2024)
(thumbnail)
"Overdraft charge, is that you?!" "HERE'S A HINT!"
XM Studios' hand-painted polystone statue of Galvatron stands 30 inches tall on a Unicron-themed base. The statue has light-up features and four different arm configurations: pointing the cannon or gesturing menacingly with the right, and posing or holding the Matrix of Leadership in its left. Also included is a small immobile statue of Galvatron's cannon mode, here called a "laser tank".
199 pieces were produced, with a suggested retail of $2,500.
Or you could pick... WHAT'S IN THE BOX.

This item is currently scheduled for release, but is not yet available at mass retail.

Notes

(thumbnail)
This toy IS a time paradox.
  • In the 1986 Hasbro Pre-Toy Fair catalog, Galvatron's orange cannon is colored dark (either black or a dark purple). Presumably, this version of the toy was based upon his early color model.
  • A triple changer was proposed which would switch between a very awkward Galvatron, Megatron, and a Walther P-38 handgun with added futuristic silencer and laser sight. It is notable that the strange "Reverse Megatron" design has a mild resemblance to the also-unproduced Galvatron Action Master, especially in the chest design.
  • A Galvatron Action Master was planned at one point, but apparently went no further than a concept sketch. It is only vaguely similar to Galvatron's normal appearance and may possibly have been a "powered up" Galvatron of some sort.
