Huffer was part of the group of Autobots that attempted to take control of the Arch-Ayr fuel dump away from the Decepticons, and was sent flying and out of the fight by one of Crasher's seismic attacks.
Later, during the hunt for the Dinobots—who had recently arrived and broken loose—Huffer managed to track down Grimlock's location. He was able to sneak up on and lasso Grimlock, but the Dinobot used the cable to pull Huffer into a wall full-force. He then attacked and was about to chomp on Huffer, when he noticed Huffer's insignia, and the codes implanted in him forced him to refrain from harming the "purple face".
This cheered Huffer greatly, and he thought things were going to go well... until a mysterious voice told Grimlock to take Huffer's (insignia-marked) gun and ruin it, thus removing that problem. Huffer wisely decided that optimism only went so far, and transformed and drove off while the getting was good.
Unfortunately, before he was able to report back with his find, Sideswipe and Cliffjumper managed to sneak up on and detain him.
He initially cheerfully tried to deny knowing anything, but after learning that Cliffjumper believed in Primus, he decided to not risk defying someone obviously so insane. Instead he offered to talk if the two Autobots-turned-Decepticons offered him three energon rods. After Cliffjumper threatened him, Huffer reduced his price to two rods. Cliffjumper retorted that Huffer would take one rod and like it, to which Huffer agreed, giving up the information.
As the two discussed their newly learned intel, Huffer made fast his escape. He was unconcerned by their knowing, as he figured Grimlock would make short work of them, and Optimus Prime's forces would be able to corral Grimlock. And he'd gotten an energon rod out of the deal. All in a good day's work. Dungeons & Dinobots
Huffer was seen as part of the group of Autobots constructing Omega Doom. Reunification: Part 3 However, an alternate account showed that Huffer was one of the Autobots following Rodimus Prime, and was among the Minicars befriended by Inferno. They had slumber parties and gab sessions together! He was kidnapped by Side Burn on behalf of the Underbase and dissected for parts to create cybernetic Transhumans. Huffer's corpse was eventually found in the secret laboratory by Rodimus' still-alive forces. Coalescence
