Rescue Force 3
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Rescue Force" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Rescue Force (disambiguation). |
- Rescue Force 3 is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Rescue Force 3 is a member of Rescue Force, a team of search-and-rescue Autobots. His rock drill mode makes so much noise that it interferes with his own hearing, and he has to rely on radar to maintain awareness.
He also fights in robot mode using photon weapons. How he compares to his fellow Rescue Force operators in this regard is unknown.
He combines with the rest of the Rescue Force to form Big Rescue Force.

Rescue Force 3 and the rest of his team went to save Goldbug and several Targetmasters after they were captured by the Decepticons. Their efforts proved unnecessary, however, as the captives managed to escape on their own. Transformers in Action: Shockwave's Galactic Secret

The Transformers
- Rescue Force (Rescue Force, 1992)
- Accessories: 2 drills/"photon weapons"
- Released in the eighth year of the European-market Transformers toyline (the final one to use the original faction symbols), this unnamed-on-the-packaging member of the Rescue Force is a redeco of the Breastforce member Drillhorn, transforming into a multi-treaded drill tank. He lacks Drillhorn's partner-beastie Hornbreast (despite what the artwork shows), but comes with a pair of drill-shaped blaster accessories, which can be mounted on his tank mode.
- The earlier versions of the drill have a blue robot-mode face, but later releases use silver. In addition, the blasters were originally molded in silver as well, but later changed to red. The blue-faced version only came with silver weapons, while the silver-faced version could come with either the silver or red blasters.
- Like his fellows, he was sold on a generic "Rescue Force" card that had no bio information and tiny instructions for all four members of the team on the back.
Notes
- Rescue Force 3's packaging gives him no name, or even an individual identifier of any sort. Like the concurrently released non-combining versions of the Constructicons, each member of the Rescue Force used the same cardback design, featuring all four members' art up front and instructions for all four members on the back. While this is thrifty, it's also crowded, leaving no room whatsoever for anything else. His rather unimaginative name and muddled bio information come from a sticker book distributed in Europe by Kent in 1993.
- The original Breastforce molds used to make the Rescue Force are (largely) self-contained combiners, able to form a super robot. Rescue Force 3 can still become the left leg to a super robot using any combination of the molds. The toy packaging does not make any mention of this, largely because the Rescue Force team lacks both the two arm-robots and the only separate piece of combiner kibble, the super robot helmet.
- The 1992 European catalog that includes the Rescue Force (as well as the Turbomasters, Predators and the non-combining Constructicons) refers to his vehicle form as a "digger". Meanwhile, the German 1992 catalog call it a "drilling vehicle" (Bohrfahrzeug).[1]
- As Rescue Force 3's art is just a mirrored and retouched version of Drillhorn's with a new weapon, it still shows Hornbreast in its chestplate configuration.
