Roadblock (G2)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Roadblock" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Roadblock (disambiguation). |
- Roadblock is a Decepticon Auto Roller from the Generation 2 portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Roadblock (aka Road Block[1]) is generally an angry, angry robot. Loud, abrasive and a classic bully, he picks on anyone weaker than he is, even his fellow Decepticons. His favorite activity is slicing, dicing, and smashing Autobots at close range in either mode. Despite his boorish behavior (and large, clunky body), he's supposedly good at recon missions. His penetrator missiles bore through even the toughest armor before they go kaboom.
As part of the Decepticons' Master Chaos group, he operates under the code name Dozermaster. In this form, he is equipped to interface and combine with Power Core Combiner drones, and is partnered with the Targetmaster Groundbreak.

Fiction
Wings Universe
Roadblock was part of the "second generation" of Transformers created on Earth, and among those who turned to evil and joined the Decepticon Syndicate under Clench's command. During the Decepticon attack on the Large Hadron Collider, he, Breakdown and Sky-Byte tried to stop a group of Autobots from rescuing the captive Spark. He fought with Meanstreak, whose guns failed to penetrate his thick armor plating, but was defeated after his opponent developed some kind of super ramming powers thanks to forestonite. Roadblock joined Master Chaos and was augmented with Power Core Combination technology, becoming known as "Dozermaster" (ドーザーマスター Dōzāmasutā). He also adopted a Targetmaster partner named Groundbreak to his arsenal as well. After the evil Combatmaster defeated the Autobot's Choppermaster in battle, Dozermaster took advantage of the fallen warrior's predicament. He planted a homing beacon on the deactivated Choppermaster so that when Airmaster arrived to whisk his comrade away for repairs, Dozermaster could follow the Autobots back to their secret base. Dozermaster and Groundbreak tunneled their way into the base, and Dozermaster revealed the last stage of his plan: the homing beacon doubled as a bomb! He extorted Combiner drones from Airmaster in exchange for Choppermaster's life. The Price of a Life

Toys
Generation 2
- Roadblock (Auto Roller, 1995)
- Accessories: 4 missiles
- Known designers: Takio Ejima (TakaraTomy), Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- Part of the first (and ultimately only) assortment of Generation 2 Auto Rollers, Roadblock transforms into a mining loader. A switch on his vehicle mode back end connects a gearing mechanism attached to his rear axle, which makes him autotransform from vehicle to robot mode when pushed forward, and back when pulled in reverse.
- In robot mode, his right arm ends in a spring-loaded missile launcher, while his left features a spring-gear-activated spinning circular saw. All four of his missiles can be stowed on his rear wheel wells.
- This mold was also used to make Autocrusher and the Korean Car Bot toyline's Scoutslasher. It was intended to be used as "Sgt. Hound" in Generation 2, but that release was canceled.
United EX
- Dozermaster vs Airmaster (Vs pack, 2012)
- ID number: EX P2
- Release date: October 20 2012
- Released in the second wave of United EX, Dozermaster is a redeco of the Power Core Combiners Sledge toy, transforming into a rockwheel trencher construction vehicle with a spinning saw-blade. In robot mode, Dozermaster has a Powerlinx plug on his chest that allows him to use Mini-Cons as armor, plus 5mm ports on the underside of his forearms, allowing him to hold compatible weapons, such as his pack-in
Mini-ConTargetmaster partner in drill mode. He also has a secondary "Prime mode" configuration in which he forms a super robot torso; in this mode he can use the drone-limbs from any 5-pack set to make a new super-robot.
- He was only available in a set with Airmaster and their
Mini-ConTargetmaster partners Groundbreak and Deduce.
Notes
- Roadblock and his fellow Auto Roller Dirtbag were the first toys in Generation 2 to have the new (and short-lived) "Pop-Ups" 3-D cards.
- Dirtbag and Roadblock were originally designed with different color schemes, which served as the basis for their packaging artwork colors. These unused decos were depicted in Hasbro's Pre-Toy Fair 1995 catalog and on the backs of their own packaging, suggesting the change came relatively late.
- Roadblock received a direct homage in Adventure Roadblock.
