Sanctuary Station

- Sanctuary Station is a Decepticon space station from the 2005 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Located in orbit around Jupiter, Sanctuary Station is the centerpiece of Soundwave's vision of the Decepticon cause: a commune for them to call home.

Following the Dark Cybertron crisis, Galvatron and Soundwave had a philosophical discussion about life goals that culminated in Soundwave proposing that they should leave Cybertron outright and seek refuge on Earth, Full Fathom Five using the news of Megatron's defection to the Autobots to convince the humans to ally with them. The Mind Bomb While the Decepticons were refused any land on Earth, they were granted a satellite in orbit of Io. Full Fathom Five The Medium and the Message Soundwave intended for their new home to be open to all Cybertronians, save those who pledged loyalty to the Primes. Vs.
Shortly after the Combiner Wars, the station was entering the final stages of its construction prompting the Ark-7 crew to send in Cosmos to spy on the Decepticons. After finding the interloper, Soundwave smacked him around the gas giant's rings before extending an open invitation to the under-appreciated Autobot. South of Heaven Concurrently on Cybertron, Needlenose began the recruitment drive for the station, promising a new life for the Decepticons, free of any stigmas or prejudices. The Transgressors
The first ship to arrive was the Peace Without Tyranny, followed soon after by the desperate Cosmos, left alone following Garrison Blackrock's crippling of the Ark-7. Aphelion Needlenose's group on Cybertron stormed into Metroplex's space bridge chamber and boarded the Ark-7 to use it to transport their large group to the station. Lagrange At Galvatron's orders however, Brawl inputted a new course: Shanghai, the first conquest of the new Decepticon Empire. Despite Soundwave's attempts to deter Needlenose and Galvatron, he glumly informed the station's inhabitants to prepare for war. Perihelion
When Optimus and Galvatron's troops went to war in Shanghai, the Peace Without Tyranny flew to the city to collect their friends. Though wishing Soundwave luck, Cosmos departed to help his fellow Autobots. Once back aboard the station, an unsurprised Soundwave watched Optimus Prime boldly annex Earth. Once Upon a Time on Earth With Galvatron and Optimus soon going to war, Soundwave informed his crew that they would be staying aboard the station and out of everyone's affairs. New Worlds Order
Optimus Prime himself soon visited the station where he blackmailed Soundwave into coming down to Earth and working with him. The Medium and the Message Following the destruction of the Nemesis, Galvatron attempted to conquer Sanctuary Station, only to be slain in Jupiter's atmosphere. No Fair Fights
In the aftermath of the crisis, Cosmos permanently moved into the Sanctuary Station, only to be called back to Earth for a stealth mission, bringing Rumble and Frenzy along with him. Behind My Bleeding Back
When the Iron Ring attacked Cybertron, Thundercracker flew to the station to make sure everyone there was accounted for. Primeless, Part 1 The shuttlecraft, Liberty One was missing but Slugslinger didn't care enough to mention where it was. When Onyx Prime returned to Cybertron with Liege Maximo, Soundwave rallied a posse of Decepticon on Sanctuary to interrogate the Prime of Lies. Another Mine
After Unicron had destroyed Cybertron, the crew aboard Sanctuary tried to raise any of their allies only for the Decepticon Vengeance Division to appear at their doorstep. Confident that Optimus Prime would find a way to save everyone, Cosmos sounded the evacuation alarm as he charged out to confront the fleet and buy the escape pods time. Unwilling to abandon their friend, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, and Sky-Byte joined him in fighting off the Maximals, all four quickly being gunned down but allowing thirty escape pods to detach while the station itself fell into Jupiter's atmosphere, burning up on entry.
