You know... this has always bugged me, are we sure these guys are the same species as the quintesson. yes i know the executioner the only other type that have limbs, but considering these guys have alt-modes. Well you gotta admit it raises questions (Really hope they bring back a 'Ask Vector prime' like segment.--Projectus (talk) 22:24, 7 September 2020 (EDT)

Character model colors

I'm not a sensitive person, but as the person who did the 'wrong colored character model' back in the day, I would like to point out that it is closer to the actual character as it appears onscreen than the actual color model. This is due to the lighting and color grading on the shot.

The image linked above uses screen captures from the 4K open matte encode, but the DVD source I was using at the time had weaker blues and thus everything was a muddier red -- meaning that the model was 100% accurate to what was seen onscreen. I don't debate that the brighter model is the 'correct' one as a representation of how the character actually looks. I just don't think 'wrong' is necessarily the right way of describing it. -Derik (talk) 21:05, 4 December 2021 (EST)

Yeah, people have a habit of being a bit over-the-top about this stuff. I've updated the write-ups here, on the image description, and the citogenesis sandbox to use more neutral (and accurate) language. Hope that addresses it? —The Wadapan (talk) 21:41, 4 December 2021 (EST)
Hmm, interesting. I remember a little while back on the topic of the Bailiff colouration, that Monzo had provided screencaps from different releases of the movie released by different companies, some had the colours look closer to the original colour guide used for the movie/cartoon, while others were closer to the colours you had used. This was also comparing VHS, DVD and maybe even Blu-Ray versions of the movie, if I recall correctly and possibly even US vs UK home media releases. From memory, my copy of the 25th Anniversary Shout! Factory boxset also has a closer colour match to the original colour guide, so perhaps part of this was down to a Kid Rhino thing? Then again, I guess taking an old animation from 30 odd years ago and trying to stretch its lifespan out for various different re-releases over those 30 odd years, would also take a toll on its quality too. -- Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 21:49, 4 December 2021 (EST)
I *think* I used the Kid Rhino release as source, yes.
The different colors of the DVDs stem from which film master they scanned and how they color graded the footage. And that is common to vary from one transfer to another. IITC the 30th anniversary (?) release was notorious for cranking the saturation through the roof on the entire movie.... -Derik (talk) 05:12, 5 December 2021 (EST)
