Talk:Zeta Prime (G1)
From Transformers Wiki
can... can we find some technicality of wiki policy -- or create a new technicality of wiki policy -- to justify yanking that FFOD dude image into the cartoon section and putting actual zeta prime up at the top or something, please --ItsWalky (talk) 03:32, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- For example, another robot in Five Faces of Darkness was retconned into being Strika, and that image sure as hell ain't at the top of her page. --ItsWalky (talk) 03:34, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- Okey doke, how's that? Anybody hate it? --ItsWalky (talk) 11:50, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- Only in that I don't like the art in that pic in general. Too dark overall and too bright at the cannon arms. --Khajidha (talk) 12:05, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- I'm not married to the main image, and I'd be happy to replace it with other Ramondelli art of Zeta Prime if it exists. The problem is, of course, that nearly all of Zeta's appearances are murky Ramondelli arts. (I think the Spotlight: Orion Pax panel is best used in the fiction section.) --ItsWalky (talk) 13:18, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- MnnnIIIIIdunnnooooo, personally, I'd crop the SL Pax pic down to just Zeta and use it, so we have a mainpic that actually gives a decent look at the character. I mean, it being a bit unimpressive is already the result of someone trying to perceive the murky depths of Livio's rendering and draw the character normally, so it mightn't hurt to try and make it easier for anyone consulting the article for Zeta reference to use that a mainpic so it can be "built upon" for future appearances, rather than the poor artist having to deconstruct Livio photoshop. Maybe I'm overthinking it. - Chris McFeely (talk) 13:25, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- There's a robot in that picture? --DrSpengler (talk) 13:27, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- I just really like the visual chronology of the fiction section of "smiley face guy" ---> "death robot pretending to be friendly in broad daylight" ----> "robo hitler" --ItsWalky (talk) 13:30, 3 March 2015 (EST)

- There's a pretty clear Ramondelli shot of him in Dark Cybertron, but of course that's actually Nova Prime, so it might be kind of a weird mainpic due to that technicality. --ItsWalky (talk) 13:33, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- There is also this cover of Autocracy: http://livioramondelli.deviantart.com/art/Transformers-Autocracy-6-cover-293148286 --ItsWalky (talk) 16:30, 3 March 2015 (EST)
- Heh, when I originally uploaded the current picture, I think I was searching for a good full-body shot of him and that was the best I could do. That cover's good though. It's less busy than the current pic and is no more or less obscuring of his design, really.--Nu-Priest (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2015 (EST)

Five Faces listing
On that note - anybody think it's a bit misleading or somehow disingenuous to list this guy on the "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4" cast list by a name he never had in the show or any of its contemporary fiction? It bothers me in a vague way I can't quite articulate. I'd rather see him as "New narrator" - with the quotes - linked here, than as Zeta Prime. But I'm open to counter-persuasion. -- Repowers (talk) 20:11, 3 March 2015 (EST)
Coming Soon?
I hardly think it's inappropriate to fill in Zeta's status as revealed in the WFC level demo shown at Toy Fair. It was officially made public like 6 weeks ago. It's a spoiler, but it's not stolen. Anybody disagree? --Thylacine 2000 11:20, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
So HAsbro at Botcon says Sentinel Prime and Zeta Prime are the same character. His name is Sentinel Zeta Prime. Merger needed? --99.97.30.142 15:11, 26 June 2010 (EDT)
That was specifically for War for Cybertron AFAIK but Nexus Prime/Maximus shows Hasbro doesn't mess around with "Prime's" so even if IDW intended Zeta Prime to be distinct he's probably not. I'd agree with a merger. MrBlud 02:15, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
- Yup let's merge it, he even looks like idw's Sentinel Prime. Dead Metal 07:20, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
- I would rather we left this as it is. --FFN 07:59, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
- Justification? I mean if Hasbro says they're the same guy... --76.28.76.206 08:15, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
- Hasbro also considers Sea Spray and Seaspray the same guy, and any version of Optimus Prime as the same guy, and any version of Jazz as the same guy, etc. They don't seem to consider much difference between "same character archetype"/"same character inspiration"/"similar character different continuity" and "same character period". I'd say unless we get fiction that firmly establishes this... we should ignore it. --Detour 08:21, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
- I think that before any talk about merging these two or not, we should be having a discussion whether or not WfC is its own continuity family or a version of G1. WFC Sentinel and Zeta could be (somewhat) the same person as Hasbro says, G1 Zeta and Sentinel (for now, and at least some versions permanently) not. Geewunling 09:07, 27 June 2010 (EDT)
- I think we might have to wait on this one and see how TF: Prime pans out. Activision seems to think WfC is a G1 prequel, but Hasbro's been going on about how Exodus and WfC are the beginnings of a new continuity. If Prime really does flow out of those two and ends up being divergent enough that it can form its own universal stream rather than being some sort of upgraded G1 or pseudo-movieverse, then by default WfC and Exodus should be tossed into whatever that continuity family is, no matter how G1ish WfC is. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.71.105.23 (talk • contribs).
- "Does Zeta Prime exist or was he always supposed to be Sentinel Prime?" would be a good wiki-centric question to ask next Q&A. Then we'd get a definitive answer. Hopefully...MrBlud 22:26, 27 June 2010 (EDT)

Spotlight Blurr and when did Zeta become "Prime"?
This article suggests "Zeta Prime" and "Sentinel Prime" were both called "Prime" at the same time. In the Prime article it says Zeta took the rank "Prime" after Sentinel's death. Which is right, or is Spotlight Blurr ambiguous on this point? (I haven't read the issue.) - Starfield 13:42, 7 September 2010 (EDT)
How Did Zeta Prime die?
Autocracy still in progress not withstanding, here's a connection for you. In the Wreckers hardcover, one of the edits made in main text of "Bullets" is to the line "-the number of patients complaining about cerebro malfunctions had increased a thousandfold since that fateful afternoon, all those years ago, when a sniper's bullet had comprehensively emptied the back of an Autobot's head.", which now reads "emptied the back of Zeta Prime's head."
Flash to More than Meets The Eye # 3, and the mini-mural of events shown while Cyclonus describes the war to Tailgate. Primary among these images, is the shot of Megatron holding a huge sniper rifle. I think we know the significance of that image now. --Nu-Priest 19:16, 12 April 2012 (EDT)
- Oh, I guess Autocracy #8 kind of torpedoes this a bit. --Nu-Priest 18:55, 25 April 2012 (EDT)
