Now we're ready to go, here we go, here we go

A lumbering, powerful Transformer like Trypticon has many important things to attend to (like destruction). When he needs some small task done, he calls on Wipe-Out (aka Necro) to do it. Wipe-Out serves Trypticon with an astonishing level of toadying sycophancy, layering on so many compliments that he actually irritates the giant with them.

This small Decepticon's super-quiet engine lets him perform recon work ahead of the slow-moving dinosaur, and he is armed with a grease gun. One of Wipe-Out's duties as Trypticon's all-purpose attendant includes lubricating his immense joints. Additionally, he has also recently gained the ability to consume the sparks of other bots.

Wipe-Out needs a spellchecker.

Wipe-Out arrived on Earth with Trypticon, who had been sent to directly attack the Autobots' Headquarters.

Trypticon sent Wipe-Out to scout for any possible interference while he prepared the attack. Wipe-Out encountered Rachel Becker, a human student drawn by dinosaur tracks left recently by the Dinobots. He brought her to Trypticon, who was delighted with the chance to destroy an organic, something he'd never destroyed before.

When Rachel tried to escape, Wipe-Out stopped her with his grease gun. Uncharacteristically, Grimlock attacked Trypticon to save her, but the behemoth threw the Dinobot commander against a hill. Wipe-Out then greased Grimlock's feet to keep him from retaliating, but the rest of the Dinobots joined the fray, and Wipe-Out was destroyed by Snarl. King of the Hill!

Wipe-Out's death didn't seem to concern Trypticon much, but he may have just been distracted by Slag setting his head on fire. Stuff like that tends to be an attention grabber.

Titans Return marketing material

The ancient Titan Master Necro was a macabre creature who harvests and devours the living sparks of any Transformers he and Trypticon happened upon as they traveled the stars spreading doom and destruction. He formed the head of Full-Tilt.[1]

2005 IDW continuity

First appearance: Lost Light #8

Wipe-Out was a blacksmith who befriended Anode and Lug prior to the Great War. Wipe-Out's specialized skills made him known to the Grand Architect, who used him and other blacksmiths to procure the sentio metallico required for his strange genetic experiments. An Axe to Break the Ice During that time, he would come to know the Catharsian merchant Mengel—also in the employ of the Grand Architect—and develop a great dislike of her, unfavorably comparing her to Starscream. He's pretty okay once you get him away from Trypticon.

After the end of the war, Wipe-Out was summoned to the planet Troja Major by the Grand Architect, but after arriving at the planet's Howling Town, he discovered fellow blacksmiths Rocket and Scammer had already been murdered by the Architect's men. Wipe-Out immediately fled before picking up the scent of sentio metallico, which led him to Anode, Lug, a dead newborn Transformer, and a Black Block Consortia hit squad. He managed to get his two friends out of the line of fire and, en route to a local bar, got them up to speed on recent events, warning them that someone was hunting down blacksmiths.

After taking refuge in a bar, the three friends caught up with one another as Wipe-Out filled them in on the activities of the Consortia. Lug was unconvinced that the organics were responsible for the spate of blacksmith murders... causing Wipe-Out to realize that the only other culprit was the Grand Architect himself, cleaning up loose ends. Wipe-Out then glimpsed one of the Grand Architect's signature Worldsweepers hovering over the bar; the three decided to leg it only for a cabal of troops led by Flame to teleport in and bar their path. I mostly show up in extremely comprehensive groupshots from here on out.

Though Anode erroneously thought Flame was the Architect, Wipe-Out sheepishly corrected her and briefed her on who Flame was, quickly realizing that Flame was also in the employ of the Grand Architect and the one responsible for the deaths of Rocket and Scammer. The three managed to keep Flame and his troops at bay long enough to flee using Anode's alternate mode, flying back to the scene where the newborn had died. Wipe-Out analyzed the bot's remains and discovered that its sentio metallico was unlike any other; the metal possessed the blueprints for millions of alternate modes, effectively allowing the Transformer to transform into anything.

At Velocity's behest, the three made their way to Mengel's laboratory where Nautica burst out of the building with instructions to flee. After the group made a brisk getaway, Wipe-Out turned down the offer to join the femmes but assured them he'd be available if they needed him. Before they parted ways however, Wipe-Out informed Velocity that Mengel's ability to extract and "sell" the emotions of other beings worked by artificially removing all feelings ever held for a person... which was why Nautica now displayed no emotions relating to her dead friend Skids. Chasing the Infinite

After escaping the Lost Light and meeting up with Grimlock on Troja Major, First Aid and his small band of Autobots hired Wipe-Out to take them in his Q-class ship and chase after the Lost Light. Tracing it to Mederi, Wipe-Out and the others met up with Team Rodimus and explained the situation to them before helping them fend off against the mutineers, who had been mutated into sparkeaters. A Dance Before Dying Lūstrāre After Rodimus retook the Lost Light from Getaway's control, Wipe-Out and the others boarded the ship as it was pulled into a rift and brought into the Benzene Cluster, where the Grand Architect had constructed his "God Gun". The crew were subsequently captured by the Grand Architect's forces Farsickness only to be rescued by the timely arrival of Megatron and the Anti-Vocationist League, who brought Wipe-Out and others onto the Last Light. The Return of the King After the rest of the crew had dealt with the Grand Architect, Wipe-Out conjoined with the others on the Lost Light to devise a plan against the Functionist Council's "Primus". The Unremembering Once Rung had created twelve Matrixes for the crew to use against "Primus", Wipe-Out accompanied Anode and Lug to the hot spot Sansaw Sanserre, fighting off against the Functionists' forces before using their Matrix to destroy the Functionist Council. • Windcharger vs Decepticon Wipe-Out (Two-pack, 2012)
Released in the fifth wave of Takara's Transformers United toyline, Wipe-Out is a redeco of Reveal the Shield Windcharger, transforming into a genericized modern muscle car that's a cross between a fifth generation Ford Mustang and a fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro. The front end is primarily based on the Mustang, including a trapezoid front grille inspired by the 2010 facelift, a GT hood scoop and a chin spoiler, while the rear half of the car is heavily inspired by the Camaro's distinct curves. The shape of the taillights, meanwhile, is also taken from the Mustang's 2010 facelift.
In robot mode, Wipe-Out features flip-out "grease guns" in his wrists, which feature C joint bars that can be used even when the guns are retracted.
He was only available in a two-pack with United Windcharger. Like the fifth and sixth wave figures, the packaging features a sticker that says "limited quantity (数量限定)", indicating that this set is released in limited numbers after its first and only shipment.

Notes

TailgateWipeout.jpg
  • Wipe-Out was a comic-only character whose appearance is based not on Tailgate's character model, but his toy—his design features chest details from the toy that the character model does not. Artist Don Perlin was given toys from Hasbro, since many of the Transformers' character models lacked art of their backs.[2] Presumably, a gifted Tailgate toy was part of how this made-up little dude was born.

To make up for this Perlin was given access to the toys by Hasbro. So Perlin had the toys to draw Transformers from... and a black Tailgate appeared in issue 27. One wonders if this is because Tailgate was just on hand when needed, or if Perlin quite liked the toy."—Obscure Transformers, "Wipeout"
