Aimless was a construction engineer onNebuloswho turned laziness into a business opportunity by accepting kickbacks for doing substandard work on the job. After several buildings under his supervision collapsed in a highly public manner, Aimless considered a career change. He signed up with the Decepticons while LordZarakandScorponokwere in favor on Nebulos, undergoing the bio-mechanical engineering process necessary to become aTargetmaster. He was partnered with Misfire and was involved in an ill-fated attempt to keep the AutobotHeadmastersfrom escaping their imprisonment, which spilled out into the streets ofKoraja.Brothers in Armor!!

Aimless was a member of theHive, the despotic rulers ofNebulos. When the Hive allied themselves with a group ofDecepticons,he became the Targetmaster partner of Misfire. Aimless introduced himself to his new Decepticon partner with the line, "I live only to destroy our mutual enemies!" He then transformed into gun mode, dropped to the ground, and started randomly firing in all directions. After Misfire picked him, he told him that he thought the name Aimless suited him better.

When the partners first engaged in battle together, Misfire criticized Aimless's lack of marksmanship. (He's one to talk!) Aimless responded that this was to be expected, as he was new at this. The Rebirth, Part 2Aimless and the Decepticon Targetmasters returned to Cybertron with the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber and Zarak's powerful new city-bot,Scorponok.Once the plasma energy was released, however, Scorponok was struck by the power and launched into deep space with Aimless and the other Decepticons still on board. The Rebirth, Part 3

They were being chased through space in their starship by the Decepticons when they came across the Battleship Maximus.Fortressgave them safe haven aboard his starship, and the Master citizens attempted to show their gratitude by removing the deadly plasma energy bombs Fortress was trying to dispose of. Their efforts came too late, however, as the plasma energy bombs exploded aboard their ship in space, bathing everyone nearby with energy.Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)

Although they survived the explosion, for Aimless and two of his fellow refugees, the ending was not a happy one. The plasma energy somehow fused each of them to a different one of the Decepticon trio who had been attacking them, creating Targetmasters. Aimless was now the eternal partner of Misfire and became a member of the Decepticon army at his side. As a Decepticon, Aimless was forced to join in the invasion of his own planet.Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)

Years prior to becoming a Targetmaster, Aimless was one of six Master warriors who were kidnapped by Scorponok and exposed to plasma energy, removing their ability to speak. Ladybird Books continuity

On planet Nebulos, all energy was derived from pulsar emanations concentrated at the north pole instead of blanketed solar energy. When the Decepticon Targetmasters learned of this,Cyclonusorder Aimless to engineer a means of capturing this energy. Under Misfire's supervision, Aimless planned the construction of a massive tetrahedron to act as an energy interceptor. Unfortunately, the Autobots sabotaged his work after it was completed, and Aimless was forced to start over, designing a sturdier interceptor. His new tri-dome interceptor was now defended byScorponokand the entire Decepticon army instead of a meager guard force. However, the seemingly steady foundation of solid ice was melted by the Autobots' thermal lasers, reducing it to slush and once again destroying the interceptor.Decepticons at the Pole

Pick a mode, kids! He'll break if you transform him too much!
  • Misfire(Targetmaster,1987)
Released in the fourth year of Hasbro's USThe Transformerstoyline (third year in Europe and in Takara'sFight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformersline), Targetmaster Aimless transforms into a double-barrelledion particle blastervia a simple one-step transformation.
Unfortunately, this single transformation joint is a fairly tight clip-joint with four ridge-and-groove points per side in a pseudo-ratchet-joint, meant to soft-lock him in gun and robot modes. These put outward-pushing pressure on the clip halves during transformation, making it prone to breaking after repeated use. Consider yourself lucky if you find an intact one these days. Sanding down the ridges on the pegs can resolve this problem, though obviously there's the risk of breaking the clips when pulling the legs off or putting them back on to do so. Good luck!
Aimless was only available packed with his larger Targetmaster companion,Misfire.Aimless can be placed in either Misfire's hands or on top of hisvehicle modethanks to the use of5 mm postsand holes.

I live only to destroy our mutual enemies!... So who are they, again?
  • Aimless(Arms Micron,2011)
Arms MicronAimless is aredecoofPower Core CombinersThrottler, transforming into a drill-weapon that can be held by any figure with a5 mm post-holein their hand, though as Aimless's head is painted all the way around, caution should be used to prevent scraping. The drill section can also rotate separately from the connector/front torso section, though it requires mounting on aPowerlinxhardpoint to use this feature, plus the swivel joint is fairly tight, making the feature more or less worthless (and dangerous, given his use of more fragile transparent plastic).
He was only available as part of thePrime"Arms MicronPresent Campaign",given away free with the purchase of 3000 yen's worth ofPrime: First Editiontoys at Joshin Denki and Bic Camera stores throughout Japan onDecember 28,2011.
This mold was also used to makeGroundbreak.

Not breakable, but somewhat easily lost. And oh so prettily painted!
  • Aimless & Misfire(Deluxe Class,2017)
Released in the fifth wave of Hasbro'sTitans Returnline, Aimless is a redeco andretoolingofBlowpipe, transforming from tiny robot to his larger pack-in partnerMisfire's head, based on Misfire's Marvel character model. He is also compatible with anyTitans ReturnTitan Master mini-vehicle/beast, or any Deluxe, Voyager, or Leader Class figure.
This wave had incredibly spotty distribution in the US, making some of the figures in this wave considerably more costly on the secondary market than much of the rest of the line.

  • Targetmaster Missfire[sic](Deluxe, 2017)
Released in the twenty-third wave of TakaraTomy'sLegendstoyline, this version of Aimless transforms into a double-barreled blaster not unlike his original toy, this time less breakable and more posable in robot mode.
He was only available with the Deluxe-sizedLegendsMisfire,replacing the twin guns of the originalTitans Returnmold, thus the slight retooling of Misfire to give him a central 5 mm weapon port. Misfire still comes with a tiny head-robot, but that's just Misfire again this time around.

  • TakaraTomy release date:April 27,2019
  • Accessories:Cannon, 2 "Fire Blast effects"
Part of the second wave ofSiege"Battle Masters",Aimless is a partial retool ofBlowpipethat keeps the torso but replaces the rest with new sculpts based specifically on the aboveLegendstoy, transforming from robot to the "Manifold Ion Particle Blaster" and back. The actual gun barrel piece can detach from his back, revealing a 3 mm peg, and connect to his arm as a cannon (though its sheer size & weight makes him easy to tip over).
He includes two "Fire Blast" effect pieces that can be used to simulate his blaster mode firing, and can slot onto the various hardpoints found on other figures and weaponry from the same subline to simulate blaster fire or explosions.
