Chris Hemsworth(bornAugust 11,1983) is an Australian actor best known for playingThorin theMarvel Cinematic Universe.After gaining fame in his home country on the soapHome and Away,Hemsworth gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of George Kirk in the 2009Star Trekreboot, before going on to star inThe Cabin in the Woods,theRed Dawnremake, and the firstThormovie in 2011.
As well as Thor, Hemsworth's recurring characters include Eric the Huntsman inSnow White and the Huntsmanand its prequelWinter's War,and Tyler Rake inExtractionand its sequel. He has stretched his muscles to comedic roles in theGhostbusters,Vacation,andMen in Blackreboots; portraying real-life figures in the Ron Howard filmsRushandIn the Heart of the Sea;and playing villains inBad Times at the El Royale,Spiderhead,and Warlord Dementus inFuriosa: A Mad Max Saga.
On the voice acting front, he has reprised the roles of Thor inWhat If...?,Loki(specifically as the Throg variant), and the 2011 video game, and Kevin Beckman in the 2016 tie-inGhostbustersgame.
