Jump Drive wasrepurposedfrom the scrappedUniverseincarnation ofSky Blast.
UniverseSpacewarpwas an unproduced redeco ofArmadaUltra-sizedJetfire,slated to come with a redeco ofComettorand theSpace Team.Judging fromUniverseRamjetandSunstormeach being packaged with four redecoed Mini-Cons whose names were unchanged, Sky Blast would presumably have retained his name.
This set was initially intended as aToys "R" Usexclusive in the United States but was shelved because no retail chain ultimately ended up wanting to carry it. Spacewarp was among several proposed exclusives that were ultimately put into retail limbo during the waning of theUniverseline.
In2007,the Spacewarp concept was modified and revived asTimelinesAstrotrain, one of the first exclusives available for purchase from theTransformers Collectors' Club.By this point, however, the Space Team molds were too worn out and were thus replaced by a redeco of theGiant Planet Teamas theSabotage Team.
In2015,this unused deco of Sky Blast became the basis of the separate character Jump Drive.

Notes

  • Spacewarp and all of her Mini-Cons have names deriving from fictional methods of FTL travel. Jump Drive's name has been used in science fiction for decades, notably in theFoundationseries.
  • According toJim Sorenson, his personality was loosely based onFuturama's Hermes Conrad.[1]
