Kotobukiyais a Japanese retailer and manufacturer of plastic model kits. They first began in1947as a single toy store inTokyobefore becoming a proper company in1953as Toya, later renamed Kotobukiya in1981.They are known for such products as theirFrame Armsline, featuring mech designs built around a single posable "frame"; theirD-Styleline, which features super-deformed mecha; and theBishoujo Series,a line of PVC statues which reimagines various licensed characters as cute anime girls based on the art ofShunya Yamashita.The company has worked with several licensed IPs over the years, includingAvengers,Batman,Metal Gear,Neon Genesis Evangelion,Star Wars,Street Fighter,and even a few Hasbro properties likeG.I. JoeandMy Little Pony.
In2015,Kotobukiya released a range ofG1Transformerscharacters in their D-Style line. In2022,it was announced thatTransformerscharacters would be joining theirBishoujo Seriesroster, with statues of several characters released through2023.
