Scarlett's Strike Forcewas announced as debuting December 2017 in the wake ofFirst Strike,and returning writerAubrey Sittersonpromised it would have "threats that lean fully into the weird sci-fi/fantasy aspects ofG.I. Joe"(and featureAction Mantoy "The Intruder".^[1]) Instead of "Crown Jewel", the new over-hyped tagline is "The Best Action Comic Ever!"

Unfortunately the comic was cancelled before the first issue was even published (see notes), ending on a cliffhanger with issue #3.^[2]A short coda for the series, entitled "Last Stand,"was published a few months later as a back-up strip inTransformers: Unicron#2.

Notes

• This was originally going to be calledG.I. Joe: Unmasked.
• Sitterson had made comments about9/11 remembrancethat hadnotgone down well with the onlineG.I. Joefanbase, so IDW told him to keep schtum and not promote the comic for a few weeks. They then canceled the book due to low sales, and totally not Sitterson's remarks.^[2]
• Sitterson eventually published his scripts and notes for the canceled issues on Patreon.
