TheSelectors(セレクターズSerekutāzu) are a race ofTransformerscreated byhumansusing the power ofAngolmois Energy.Utilized for all sorts of needs, the Selectors have basically supplanted all kinds of menial labor from humans and their use even extends to being walls and furniture. Indeed, their use has brought on a new level of luxury and prosperity unheard of to humanity. But whether the Selectors themselves are happy with their lot in life is a different question...

The Selectors were created at some point before the year2050,mass-produced byhumansafter discovering and harnessing the seemingly-miraculous power source known asAngolmois Energy.While theCybertron Alliancekept the peace out in space, the Selectors became an indispensable part ofEarthsociety—not only did they toil away in factories and foundries, but some of their numbercombinedthemselves into buildings, walls, and furniture for their human taskmasters. While humans viewed them as a necessary part of their society,Optimus Primefound himself troubled by humanity's clear disregard for the independence of their mechanical creations. As they grew in number, the SelectorRungdirectly petitionedMegatronto help drive the humans off of Earth, comparing the struggles of his kind to the ancient Transformers who rebelled against theirQuintessoncreators.
Megatron decided to support the Selectors in their bid for freedom, and both he and his Decepticons joined Rung and his group of rebels as they began a full-scale revolt against their human creators. When the Autobots intervened, Megatron called Optimus out on his hypocrisy—for if freedom was the right ofallsentient beings, then that maxim applied to the Selectors too.Volcanicus comic 1Agreeing, Optimus aligned his forces with the Selectors only for the combined force to be met by theDinobots,who had defected to humanity's side. After theTechnobotshad merged withGrimlockto becomeVolcaticon,the combiner began using his super-intelligence to calculate a solution that would bring peace to all sides of the conflict.Volcanicus comic 2
Unbeknownst to all,Spike Witwickyhad sought out an alliance with theQuintessons,who turned theirTerrorconsagainst the Cybertronians and Selectors. Following after Spike and aQuintesson Judge,Rung witnessed Spike understand humanity's error in treating the Selectors as slaves before he was shot by the alien.Abominus comic 1Touched by Spike's change of heart, Rung carried him to Neo Autobot X, who used Rung'salternate modeto shove anenergon enemaup the Quintesson's gravity beam. Despite this, the Quintessons had already corrupted the Earth's supply of Angolmois Energy. Though Spike realized that Earth had to be evacuated, Rung noted that the Selectors ran on Angolmois Energy.Abominus comic 2
When Megatron Omega's Angolmois rampage grew ever more chaotic, Rung and other Selectors granted some of their Angolmois Energy toLio Convoyto transform theMaximalinto the Green Lion. After the crisis had passed, Earth was evacuated, leaving the dangerous levels of Angolmois Energy alone. Though Rung expressed worry about the future of his kind, Spike assured his friend that humanity and the Selectors would now exist in peace. After some time onMars,the children of Earth began a search for a new home.Finale
