TheMega Swordis an extremely powerful weapon wielded byMegatron.A double-bladed pike with the ability to energize its two blades, the weapon can be split to form two single-bladed swords, along with many parts of Megatron's alt modes. Its primarily configuration enables it to be spun rapidly, in which case it doubles as both a melee weapon and a shield, and can produce an attack known as theCyclone Blast.

After Megatron metamorphosed into Galvatron, it was renamed theStriker Lanceand gained even more power.

Megatron first used one half of the sword to disable the attacks ofTeam Bullet Train,but he was forced to retreat after the three combined intoRail Racerand soundly defeated him with their combined might.Bullet Train to the RescueLater, when thePredaconstookSide Burnhostage, they held him to ransom in exchange for the surrender ofOptimus Prime.After Optimus complied, he was bound up and beaten into submission by Megatron, using one half of his Mega Sword to do so. When the Autobots mounted a rescue of their comrades, Megatron used the same half of his sword to block one of Prowl's attacks before switching to his Dragon Mode to continue the fight.Sideburn's ObsessionWhen the AutobotTow-Linehad been freed from his reprogramming by the Predacons, Megatron joined up with his teammates to engage the Autobots. He drew his Mega Sword and used it strikeRapid Runfrom above, but the Bullet Train was quick enough to just barely block it in time with hisDeflector Shield.As the battle intensified and turned in the Autobots' favor, Megatron tried for one more blow to Rapid Run, only for his sword to prove ineffective against Rapid Run'sShield Power Ram,which sent Megatron packing.Tow-Line Goes Haywire

Much later, during a time whenUltra Magnus's loyalties were being tested by the Predacons, theAutobot Brothershad been captured and Optimus Prime was lured into a trap in which he could not fight back without harm befalling the Autobot Brothers. Megatron shortly arrived and once again wielded his sword in battle, this time using his Cyclone Blast on the helpless Autobot leader. After Ultra Magnus saved the Autobot Brothers, the four of them joined in the fight, only for the brothers to soon find themselves on the receiving end of Megatron's Cyclone Blast, which they narrowly dodged before Megatron (once again) switched to Dragon Mode for the remainder of the fight.The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus

The sword would not see use again for some time until after Megatron's upgrade into Galvatron,Peril from the Pastby which point it had been renamed the Striker Lance. After having taken children all over the world hostage with hisCyber-bats,Galvatron sent the Autobots into retreat via theirGlobal Space Bridge.He then sent theDecepticonsin pursuit of them as part of a much more devious plan. Galvatron sought to remove the wall separating molten magma from the Space Bridge's tunnel in an attempt to drown the Autobots and the formerly-traitorous Decepticons in a sea of lava. As he powered up his Striker Lance, he was attacked by Ultra Magnus, who had secretly remained behind. With the power he had previously stolen fromFortress Maximusprotected him from Magnus's attack, Galvatron fired a laser from hislancethat disabled Magnus. With no more distractions, Galvatron drove his weapon into the ground and unleashed the dormant magma upon both the Space Bridge tunnel and its hapless occupants. Unfortunately for Galvatron, the Autobots were able to survive their fiery doom by withstanding the lava and escaping back to the surface.Galvatron's Revenge

In his final duel withOmega Primeat theEarth's core,Galvatron wielded his Striker Lance one last time. He clashed swords against Omega's newly-manifestedMatrix Blade,spinning the Striker Lance around to block each of Omega's blows until one final decisive strike from the Matrix Blade sliced the Striker Lance to pieces. And because Galvatron had transferred so much of his own energy into the weapon, its destruction released all that energy in one massive explosion, leading to Galvatron's ultimate defeat.The Final Battle
