Synopsis

Nemesisstill approachesGaia,and its presence is causing eruptions ofAngolmois Energyall over the planet, as well as influencing thePredacons.On board theGalvaburg II,DirgeandThrustreview the performance of the newly evolvedHellscreamandMax-Band whine about their own continued inferiority compared to the other Predacons. To gain favor, they decide to killLio Convoy.

At theYukikaze,Lio ConvoyandApacheare again discussing Nemesis's approach and its influence on the planet's Angolmois Energy, and the Maximal leader declares they need to stop the artificial planet from reaching Gaia. Outside, theMagna Bosstrio investigate some ruins that were emitting a mysterious light. It turns out to be a trap, andLio Juniorends up being captured by Dirge to use as a hostage to draw out Lio Convoy. However, Dirge and Thrust turn out to be quite incompetent and crash into each other mid-flight, allowing the trio an opportunity to combine into Magna Boss. Overmatched, the Predacon duo are sent fleeing.

On a cliffside, the two note that they've never actually fought their enemies head on and set out to fight Lio Convoy. This plan doesn't turn out any better, since they're easily outclassed by the Maximal commander. Their comatose bodies are retrieved byAutocrusherandAutostingerand brought toGigastorm,who commends the two on their efforts. After Dirge and Thrust beg Gigastorm to make them stronger, the Predacon archduke, seeking powerful warriors loyal to only him, fulfills their demand by hooking them up to his systems. Angolmois Energy from Gigastorm's own being is pumped into their structures and the two evolve into Dirgegun and Thrustor!

The duo findScubaalone and Thrustor freezes the Maximal with his Thrash Horn, and soon come acrossBighornandTasmania Kid,who Dirgegun uses his Blast Leader supersonic waves to immobilize. Impressed with their new abilities, they set out to find and kill Lio Convoy. In theMoon,ArtemisandMoonworry about the increasing power of the Predacons and the approaching Nemesis, but Moon is confident that Lio Convoy has a plan.

Elsewhere, Lio Convoy looks over some blueprints for a weapon and is contacted byApache,who warns him that a mysterious duo are seeking him out. The duo themselves pop up right after and Lio Convoy, realizing their true identities as Thrust and Dirge, transforms in preparation for battle. In the meantime, the Magna Boss trio find theTako Tankand the frozen Scuba. Sensing that Lio Convoy is in danger, Lio Junior sets off in the Sumiikar to rescue his "father".

Lio Convoy finds all of his usual attacks are ineffective on Dirgegun and Thrustor, who have reviewed them and prepared counterattacks for all of them. Lio Convoy is sent tumbling down the cliffside, and is about to be ended by the Predacons when Lio Junior comes to the rescue in the Sumiikar. Dirgegun tries using the Blast Leader, but its effect on Thrustor makes the cyborg wasp pause, and Lio Convoy takes advantage of this moment to bury the two in a rockslide and flee the scene. Dirgegun and Thrustor aren't too fussed, though; they've proven they candestroythe Maximals anytime they want.

WhileSantonandSkywarpwork on thawing out Scuba, Lio Junior discusses with Lio Convoy about their connection; what pain Lio Convoy feels, Lio Junior feels. They wonder if Dirge and Thrust's upgrade is connected to Nemesis and Lio Convoy declares the Maximals will never give up, no matter the odds.

Artemis & Moon II Report

Artemis is shocked at the power of Dirgegun and Thrustor that they got from Gigastorm's Angolmois fusion energy. Analyzing the pair, Moon finds that Dirgegun has the Needle Launcher and the Blast Leader. Thrustor, on the other hand, has the Dino Launcher, the Raptor Shield, the Casting Shooter, the Gash Sword, and the Thrash Horn. Artemis finds all of their weapons to be weird and misses the comedy of their previous forms. Moon does provide one positive—Dirgegun and Thrustor have yet to become fully accustomed with their new bodies, and now would be the best time to take them down. As a parting comment, Artemis asks the Maximals to let the handsomeHellscreambe.

Continuity errors

• As Autostinger and Autocrusher approach the defeated Thrust and Dirge, Autostinger nudges Thrust and Autocrusher picks up Dirge. However as they are driving away, Dirge is in the back of Autostinger's truck bed and Thrust is being carried in Autocrusher's scoop. Perhaps Autolauncher lifted Dirge into Autostinger then picked up Thrust off-screen.
