- Thunder Mayhem is aDecepticoncombinerfrom theOf Masters and Mayhemportion of theGeneration 1continuity family.
Thunder Mayhemis a monster, a blot upon the universe. Born of the mad science ofShockwaveandThunderwing,the combined form of theMayhem Attack Squadis unique. And not just because it consists of six sparks in a body made from five, or because that sixth which gives this entity its life glows anunnatural green.No other combiner in existence is as strong, or durable, or dangerous. Entire armies have fought it, and entire armies have fallen, either to its indomitable strength, its mighty array of weapons, or its ruthless intellect.
However, while to the Decepticons this unstoppable juggernaut might be an unqualified success, this relentless beast has no love for its kin, and will destroy any who stand against it without the slightest hesitation. What will happen when its rampage across Cybertron is finished is unknown, but it likely will not simply sit and enjoy itself in the ruins of one world. Perhaps the only thing capable of putting an end to this creature isanother, equally horrific monster...

Of Masters and Mayhem
Thunder Mayhem's origins trace back to two different mad experiments. The first involved the living weaponToxitron,who'd been made in the image of Optimus Prime himself. At some point, a scientist (eitherShockwaveor someone working under him) attempted to recreate the Creation Matrix inside the creature. The result was not entirely successful, but did give the Decepticons a shell, later dubbed theMatrix of Malice.
The second came from the ambitious but very insane Thunderwing, who experimented on himself in the hopes of unlocking arcane power. What he managed was toturn his spark green.Learning of this, Shockwave had Thunderwing imprisoned and removed his spark, before placing it in the shell. Eventually the spark-infused Matrix of Malice was made a part of the combined form of the Mayhem Attack Squad, granting it life.Deadly Aim
Somehow,this didn't work out so great. Thunder Mayhem ravaged Cybertron, devastating Autobot and Decepticon alike, including the legendary Autobot commando unit theWreckers.In the course of this one-sided war, it destroyed fellow combinersBruticusandDefensor.At one of the last skirmishes, atKaon,it facedSuperionandMenasor,whom it also destroyed—Superion by slicing his components into pieces, and Menasor by shooting him with a weapon so powerful the combiner was torn to shreds.Deadly AimEvenVictorionand anUnderbase-empoweredComputronwere no match for it.Lively PursuitThunder Mayhem captured and imprisonedOptimus Primein the Mayhem Attack Squad's ship, forcing him to stand by helplessly and watch the slaughter.Pandora's Gift
Eventually, Thunder Mayhem's rampage had cost so many that barely any from either side survived. Some even believed it had destroyed Cybertron itselfLife Finds a WayHistoryBut it hadn't, merely devastated it to ruins.Deadly AimEvenMegatronhad abandoned his troops and gone into exile, deciding that Decepticon culture had to survive in him.DivinationBelieving Optimus Prime's spirit had been utterly broken, Thunder Mayhem set him free to roam the cosmos and live with his failure.Pandora's Gift

Their apocalyptic goals aligning,Ramjetformed an alliance with the Mayhem Attack Squad.HistoryThey traveled toEarthto eliminate the last of the surviving Transformers and Thunder Mayhem was unleashed in the city ofMérida.DivinationMetalhawkand his team of AutobotPretenderstook Thunder Mayhem on, but were unable to make a dent in the gestalt's armor. Optimus Prime revealed himself to be dwelling on Earth in a Pretender disguise and joined in the fight, inspired by Metalhawk's team. Thunder Mayhem was pleased to have another opportunity to crush the new hope in Optimus.Pandora's GiftImpactor and his Wreckers arrived on the scene and combined into their new gestalt form ofWreckageto confront Thunder Mayhem. A blast of energy from the superhumanElizabethmanaged to weaken Thunder Mayhem enough for Wreckage to tear a hole in his opponent's chest, revealing the Matrix of Malice within. Everyone focused their firepower on it and the resulting blast was enough to disassemble Thunder Mayhem for good. In the aftermath, the surviving Mayhem Attack Squad members were taken into custody by the Wreckers.Finale

Notes
- Thunder Mayhem's preliminary name, prior to the reveal of its Thunderwing-themed headsculpt, was "Mayhem Maximus".
- The story "Not All Megatrons",set inBeast Wars: Uprisingcontinuity, mentions how Thunderwing once fused his spark with the Mayhem Attack Squad and wiped out the Wreckers. While not explicitly-stated, it seems likely that some form of Thunder Mayhem manifested in that continuity as well.
