Tote
From Transformers Wiki
- Tote is anAutobotMicromasterfrom theGeneration 1continuity family.
Toteis a master of in-mission improvisation. He's extremely skilled in adapting to changing situations, and coming up with clever methods of getting out of unexpected scrapes. He's most often paired withMudslinger,as his teammate's penchant for getting into trouble often requires Tote's quick thinking to turn a bad situation around.Highjumptakes issue with this, believing that Tote's friendly help is encouraging Mudslinger's aggressive and dangerous behavior. Team leaderPowertrainis also a bit concerned that Tote improvisestoomuch, making it difficult for him to stick to their carefully-laid-out plans.[1]

Tote was summoned to Earth alongside the rest of theOff Road PatrolwhenOptimus Primedecided that a larger Autobot presence on the planet was required, following thelossof several of his own soldiers. Like the other Micromasters, Tote was pretty cynical about the whole thing, and had an insubordinate streak to boot. Optimus laid out a pair of recent news reports involving giant creatures spotted in theNew Jerseyswamps and unusual storm activity consolidating over Manhattan. Believing there was a Decepticon link between the stories, the Off-Road Patrol took to the swamps to seek out any clues. WhenMudslingerfound the DecepticonPretendersrunning a weather-control device, the alerted his teammates and the battle was joined. Highjump and Tote used a trip-line to sendSkullgrinflying, and the weather machine was destroyed. Unfortunately, the forces of nature were too far along to stop, and the storm itself continued to rage. Luckily, theRace Car Patrolwere able to stop the Decepticons from collecting the storm's energies in the Big Apple, foiling their plot utterly. After the mission's completion, the Micromasters regrouped at the base of theEmpire State Building, where Optimus offered to pick them up, so they could avoid any trouble from the local law enforcement agents. The Micromasters refused Optimus's help, preferring to instead act as an independent unit and deal with such matters their own way. Tote and the others decided to stay and live inNew York Cityfrom then on.King Con!

This same basic packaging design was also used for Canada (albeit bilingual English/French) and parts of Europe (bilingual French/Dutch, and Italian-only packaging distributed byGiG). However, a variant of sorts featuring the later 1989 packaging design also exists, and was released (in English-only packaging) in the United Kingdom, where it was sold at Woolworth's stores.
- The "Off Road Patrol Team"was sold in Japan a year later as part of Takara'sZoneportion of theFight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformersseries, with no notable changes from theirHasbroreleases.
