From Transformers Wiki
- Wipe-Out is aDecepticonfrom theGeneration 1continuity family.
A lumbering, powerful Transformer likeTrypticonhas many important things to attend to (likedestruction). When he needs some small task done, he calls onWipe-Out(akaNecro) to do it. Wipe-Out serves Trypticon with an astonishing level of toadying sycophancy, layering on so many compliments that he actually irritates the giant with them.
This small Decepticon's super-quiet engine lets him perform recon work ahead of the slow-moving dinosaur, and he is armed with a grease gun. One of Wipe-Out's duties as Trypticon's all-purpose attendant includes lubricating his immense joints. Additionally, he has also recently gained the ability to consume the sparks of other bots.

Wipe-Out arrived on Earth with Trypticon, who had been sent to directly attack theAutobots' Headquarters.
Trypticon sent Wipe-Out to scout for any possible interference while he prepared the attack. Wipe-Out encounteredRachel Becker,a human student drawn by dinosaur tracks left recently by the Dinobots. He brought her to Trypticon, who was delighted with the chance to destroy an organic, something he'd never destroyed before.
When Rachel tried to escape, Wipe-Out stopped her with his grease gun. Uncharacteristically,Grimlockattacked Trypticon to save her, but the behemoth threw the Dinobot commander against a hill. Wipe-Out then greased Grimlock's feet to keep him from retaliating, but the rest of theDinobotsjoined the fray, and Wipe-Out was destroyed bySnarl.King of the Hill!
Wipe-Out's death didn't seem to concern Trypticon much, but he may have just been distracted bySlagsetting his head on fire. Stuff like that tends to be an attention grabber.

Wipe-Out was ablacksmithwho befriendedAnodeandLugprior to theGreat War.Wipe-Out's specialized skills made him known to theGrand Architect, who used him and other blacksmiths to procure thesentio metallicorequired for his strange genetic experiments. An Axe to Break the IceDuring that time, he would come to know theCatharsianmerchantMengel—also in the employ of the Grand Architect—and develop a great dislike of her, unfavorably comparing her toStarscream.Chasing the Infinite
After the end of the war, Wipe-Out was summoned to the planetTroja Majorby the Grand Architect, but after arriving at the planet'sHowling Town,he discovered fellow blacksmithsRocketandScammerhad already been murdered by the Architect's men. Wipe-Out immediately fled before picking up the scent ofsentio metallico, which led him to Anode, Lug, adead newborn Transformer, and aBlack Block Consortiahit squad. He managed to get his two friends out of the line of fire and, en route to a local bar, got them up to speed on recent events, warning them thatsomeonewas hunting down blacksmiths.
After taking refuge in a bar, the three friends caught up with one another as Wipe-Out filled them in on the activities of the Consortia. Lug was unconvinced that the organics were responsible for the spate of blacksmith murders... causing Wipe-Out to realize that the only other culprit was the Grand Architect himself, cleaning up loose ends. Wipe-Out then glimpsed one of the Grand Architect's signatureWorldsweepershovering over the bar; the three decided to leg it only for a cabal of troops led byFlameto teleport in and bar their path. An Axe to Break the Ice
Though Anode erroneously thought Flame was the Architect, Wipe-Out sheepishly corrected her and briefed her on who Flame was, quickly realizing that Flame was also in the employ of the Grand Architect and the one responsible for the deaths of Rocket and Scammer. The three managed to keep Flame and his troops at bay long enough to flee using Anode'salternate mode, flying back to the scene where the newborn had died. Wipe-Out analyzed the bot's remains and discovered that itssentio metallicowas unlike any other; the metal possessed the blueprints formillionsof alternate modes, effectively allowing the Transformer to transform into anything.
AtVelocity's behest, the three made their way to Mengel's laboratory whereNauticaburst out of the building with instructions to flee. After the group made a brisk getaway, Wipe-Out turned down the offer to join the femmes but assured them he'd be available if they needed him. Before they parted ways however, Wipe-Out informed Velocity that Mengel's ability to extract and "sell" the emotions of other beings worked by artificially removing all feelings ever held for a person... which was why Nautica now displayed no emotions relating to her dead friendSkids.Chasing the Infinite

Notes
- Wipe-Out was a comic-only character whose appearance is based not onTailgate'scharacter model, but histoy—his design features chest details from the toy that the character model does not. ArtistDon Perlinwas given toys from Hasbro, since many of the Transformers'character modelslacked art of their backs.[2]Presumably, a gifted Tailgate toy was part of how this made-up little dude was born.

To make up for this Perlin was given access to the toys by Hasbro. So Perlin had the toys to draw Transformers from... and a black Tailgate appeared in issue 27. One wonders if this is because Tailgate was just on hand when needed, or if Perlin quite liked the toy." —Obscure Transformers, "Wipeout"
