Officials searching for missing 70-year-old Winston-Salem woman with cognitive impairment
THANKS FOR STAYING WITH US THIS AFTERNOON. WE ARE FOLLOWING SEVERAL TOP STORIES. CHRISTINE CRUZ IS IN STUDIO TONIGHT WITH A CLOSER LOOK AT WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW. CHRISTINE DAVONTE AND LINDSEY, WE BEGIN IN DAVIDSON COUNTY. A MAN IS FACING MORE THAN A DOZEN ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES, ACCUSED OF KILLING TWO DOGS. CHRISTOPHER MULLINS MADE HIS FIRST COURT APPEARANCE THIS MORNING. HE WAS ARRESTED BY DAVIDSON COUNTY DEPUTIES YESTERDAY AFTER DEPUTIES SAY THEY FOUND TWO DOGS DEAD AT A HOME ON FIRST CIRCLE IN LEXINGTON. MULLINS IS NOW CHARGED WITH TWO FELONY COUNTS AND 14 MISDEMEANORS. THREE PEOPLE FROM SOUTH CAROLINA ARE CHARGED IN A BREAK-IN IN HIGH POINT. OFFICERS SAY AARON BARGE, ASHANTI BETHEA AND JAMIR JONES BROKE A WINDOW TO GET INTO A HOME ON AVERY AVENUE EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING. OFFICERS SAY ONE PERSON INSIDE THAT HOME FIRED A GUN AT A SUSPECT. THEY DID NOT NAME THE PERSON HIT, BUT SAY THAT PERSON IS BEING TREATED AT THE HOSPITAL. DETECTIVES SAY THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING AND MORE CHARGES COULD BE FILED. AND FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S SENTENCING IN HIS HUSH MONEY CASE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 18TH. THIS AFTERNOON, A JUDGE AGREED TO PUT IT OFF, CITING THE POSSIBLE IMPACT OF YESTERDAY’S SUPREME COURT RULING ON PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY. THE FORMER PRESIDENT WAS CONVICTED BACK IN MAY ON 34 COUNTS OF FALSIFYING BUSINESS RECORDS. HE WAS PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED TO BE SENTENCED NEXT WEEK. AND THAT’S A LOOK AT TODAY’S HEADLINES. Officials said Brenda Kay Hairston is described as 5 feet tall and around 220 pounds. She is said to be driving in a cream colored 2009 Mitsubishi Galant with the North Carolina license plate, TJL-6170. The vehicle has an "NY" metal decal on the back bumper. It is unknown where she was headed. The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Missing Endangered Alert. If anyone has information about Hairston, they are asked to contact PO. TN. Hairston was last seen on the 1600 block of Emerald Street wearing a white T-shirt with 'Mardi gras' on the front, pink shorts, and black and white sneakers.
