After sweeping the first three places in the 2000 Guineas on June 2, champion trainer Jason DaCosta’s trio – CALIFORNIA CROWN, INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD and PROVIDENT - face 1000 Guineas winner, classy filly RUN JULIE RUN, in Sunday’s rescheduled Jamaica St Leger, the second leg of the Triple Crown series at Caymanas Park.

Robert Halledeen is aboard CALIFORNIA CROWN, whereas leading rider Tevin Foster has the leg up astride INTRESTNTIMESSAHEAD.

Champion jockey Reyan Lewis partners RUN JULIE RUN.

CALIFORNIA CROWN stunned stablemate and favourite INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD in a gate-to-wire 2000 Guineas run at odds of 3-1, confirming railbirds’ reports that the champion two-year-old had struggled at exercise against PROVIDENT.
RUN JULIE RUN, runner-up to INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD in December’s Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes, trampled rivals in the 1000 Guineas, clocking 1:42.1, two-fifth’s quicker than CALIFORNIA CROWN beating the colts in 1:42.3.

INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD continues to appear vulnerable at exercise.

Galloping with MACK AND ROME, 1:27.2, last Saturday, INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD, 1:28.1, was inexplicably beaten in a seven-furlong gallop by the recent maiden winner.

Having debuted as a three-year-old, CALIFORNIA CROWN could have improved past INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD, making him the DaCosta flagbearer against RUN JULIE RUN, who should definitely be competitive against colts with her five-pound sex allowance.

Anthony Nunes has a handful of stayers – ALLEGIANCE, SUPREMASI, CAPTAIN SPARROW, KING PYE and CROWN CHASER - who will be charging late in the event, enjoying two turns as opposed to a mile in the 2000 Guineas.

First post for the 10-race card is noon, rescheduled to Sunday after the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
