The Police Department shared pictures onFacebookof a moose calf in their backyard at the Public Safety Building.
"It came through the woods and decided to hang out near the pond out back," wrote chief David Bucknam. "It is always amazing to see the different species of wildlife in the area but this really stole the show. Beautiful."
Maine's moose population is the largest of all the lower 48 states, estimated at 60,000 to 70,000 animals.
