CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Friday on charges that he set his neighbor’s car on fire.
Daniel William Altenhofen, 39, is charged with first-degree arson and interference with official acts.
According to a criminal complaint, witnesses Thursday night saw him pour liquid onto his neighbor’s car in the 1500 block of Elmhurst Drive NE, and then light it on fire.
“The vehicle was parked adjacent to the residence in a residential neighborhood where other persons’ presence could be reasonably anticipated,” the complaint reads.
Altenhofen then ran into his own house and refused to come out when law enforcement arrived on the scene, the complaint states.
