This is a whole library that I can hold in one hand! I love to read but have limited space in my house, so it is really convenient to have this eReader where I can access a world of books. It has my Bible, dictionary and other reference materials and I can access almost every book ever published. I also find that many books are not issued in print anymore and I have them in my Kindle collection.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BATTERY LIFE. I love that I can read for weeks with a single charge, but you have to be careful and use a Kindle knowledgeably because there are a few basic rules you must follow to prevent damage to the battery. Just call Amazon Kindle help before your first use and they will be able to help you get set up safely. You shouldn't over charge and you shouldn't try to use the Kindle while it is charging. And you should never let it run completely down. These things could damage the battery. You should also know that a wifi internet connection drains the battery very fast. Only connect to the internet while downloading a book, and when done, disconnect from the internet for low energy reading. You cannot replace the battery on a Kindle so when you've used up all your charges, you must discard this device and buy a new Kindle. I think if they wanted to, they could make these to last, but there is no profit in that, so remember that KINDLES ARE DISPOSABLE and your best course of action is to be aware of how to take care of your battery and give it maximum life.

Another drawback is that Kindles are TINY. They are not a good choice for cookbooks or for color magazines or for an atlas that needs a large page size to appreciate. And Kindles are black & white only. If you want a large screen and color display, you will have to move up to a tablet, but be aware that Kindle reading is extremely hard on the battery life of a tablet.

One of my favorite features is that this particular Kindle is the cheapest because IT HAS NO BACKLIGHT. This is considered a negative by some people, but I find that hours of staring into a backlit screen causes eyestrain. This inexpensive Kindle is the easiest for me to read and I wish people could realize what constant backlit screen time does to one's eyes.

I dont' think Kindle will ever completely replace print books. I still have a small collection of my favorites in high quality hardbound editions. But for general reading, this is an awesome compliment to my print collection.
