What if you could find a way to share your faith in Jesus that feels natural, fits your personality, and ignites a fire in others?

In this video-based evangelism training course (video streaming code included), author ofBecoming a Contagious ChristianMark Mittelberg introduces five approaches to evangelism to help you determine which of them fit best with your unique gifts and personality:

  • Friendship-Building
  • Selfless-Serving
  • Story-Sharing
  • Reason-Giving
  • Truth-Telling

As disciples of Christ, we are called to share the gospel, but few of us are naturally comfortable with evangelism. We wrestle with a sense of insecurity, a lack of preparation, and the sense that reaching out to others might force us to act like someone we're not. And many of us feel guilty when we fail to use an opportunity to talk about our faith, lowering our confidence even further.

Building upon popular personality-type methods, theContagious Faithassessment will help you identify your primary style, along with any secondary styles you discover. You'll learn next steps for developing and deploying your natural approach to evangelism and work through interactive prompts to practice the methods Mark unpacks in the videos.

TheContagious Faith Study Guidecan be used in small groups, classes, student ministries, and church-wide campaigns and has everything you need to participate, including:

  • The guide itself—with discussion and personal reflection questions, prompts, video notes, and a leader's guide.
  • An individual access code to stream all six video sessions online (you don't need to buy a DVD!).
  • An assessment quiz to help you determine yourContagious Faithstyle.

The training videos also include short interviews with Mark and five individuals who speak and use each of the 5 faith-sharing styles so that you can see them in action.

RICK WARREN, founding and senior pastor of Saddleback Church, and author of The Purpose Driven Life

“Mark Mittelberg thinks intentionally about evangelism probably more than anyone else I know. His insights are always biblical and creative. That’s why I highly recommendContagious Faith. It’s provides practical advice on how to share your faith in these days.”

RASHAWN COPELAND, evangelist, founder of Blessed Media, author of Start Where You Are

“Mark Mittelberg is one of my faith heroes and, I believe, among the most important writers of our time. Contagious Faith combines a biblical rationale with practical counsel and dozens of real-life stories. It can only be described as a masterpiece for this messy moment we’re living in. I found it to be a powerful guide for discovering what kind of ‘inner evangelist’ I am—and I’m confident it will help you discover the same for yourself.”

ED STETZER, Executive Director, Wheaton College Billy Graham Center

“The greatest evangelistic tool you have at your disposal is you. Effective evangelism happens by employing yourself in the service of the King to naturally and contextually engage others with the good news of Jesus Christ. If you don’t know how to do this, my friend Mark Mittelberg's Contagious Faith can help you find your natural approach. I pray this message will give you the confidence and boldness to share your contagious faith naturally.”

WILLIE ROBERTSON, CEO of Duck Commander and Buck Commander, and star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty

“Churches have either forgotten that seeking and saving the lost was Christ’s mission or they simply don’t know how to be effective at it. Mark has laid out the most in-depth strategy for churches and individuals to share the Gospel that works. I know this because I have used Mark’s intentional approach at my home church, Christ Church in northeast Louisiana, and it has been a game changer!”

Mark Mittelberg is a best-selling author, sought-after speaker, and a leading strategist in evangelism and apologetics-oriented outreach. He is the primary author (with Lee Strobel and Bill Hybels) of the updated Becoming a Contagious Christian Training Course, through which more than a million people have learned to effectively and naturally communicate their faith to others.

Mark’s newest book, The Questions Christians Hope No One Will Ask, is based on a survey of 1000 Christians commissioned through the Barna organization, and deals with the ten issues that believers most want to avoid—but must not! Prior to that Mark collaborated with Lee Strobel to develop The Unexpected Adventure, a six-week devotional designed to inspire Christians and churches to enter into the excitement of sharing Christ. His previous book, Choosing Your Faith... In a World of Spiritual Options, strengthens the faith of believers and is a great resource to give to friends who are figuring out what to believe — and he’s developed a DVD study course for Christians based on that book, Faith Path: Helping Friends Find Their Way to Christ. Mark also wrote the articles for the Choosing Your Faith New Testament. His other books include the updated Becoming a Contagious Church, which sets forth an innovative blueprint for mobilizing churches for evangelism, and the classic best-seller Becoming a Contagious Christian, which he co-authored with Hybels. In addition, Mark was contributing editor for The Journey: A Bible for the Spiritually Curious, and a contributor to Reasons for Faith: Making a Case for the Christian Faith, edited by Norman Geisler and Chad Meister, and God Is Great, God Is Good: Why Believing in God Is Reasonable & Responsible, edited by William Lane Craig and Chad Meister — which won the 2010 Christianity Today award for best book in the area of apologetics and evangelism.

Mark was the evangelism director at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago for seven years and for the Willow Creek Association for a decade. He is a frequent contributor for Outreach magazine, and he was an editorial consultant and periodic guest for Lee Strobel’s Faith Under Fire television show. He and Strobel have been ministry partners for over twenty years. After receiving an undergraduate degree in business, Mark earned a Master's Degree in Philosophy of Religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. In recognition of his achievements in the areas of evangelism and apologetics, he was recently honored by the conferring of a Doctor of Divinity degree from Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mark and his wife, Heidi, have two teenage children, and live near Denver, Colorado.

This book helps to take the guesswork out of sharing Jesus with others. Firstly, it is easy to read and understand. Secondly, the streaming video is an excellent aid to understanding the teaching advocated in the book. The streaming video is accessible on any mobile device. Lastly, the book is interactive learning with exercises and commentary. It is one of the most convenient methods for Christian’s to grow their faith in this digital world. I will keep and reference this book for insight and instructions.

I can't say enough about how good this book is. It presents the idea that there are different ways that people share their faith because of who they are. It seems obvious that people are different and would have different experiences and different ways to express themselves. But many times there are those that expect to have everyone fit into a cookie cutter mold of how things should be done. But we are different and we can complement each other. That is another great point that this study brings out is that we can complement each other. I think not only is this book great for a group setting, but for couples. Mark Mittelberg brings out a great point initially of how him and his wife complemented each other on a witnessing occasion. But that was a story on the video.
I really like the way that this study guide works in association with the videos on Study Gateway. I am so impressed with the quality of the videos on Study Gateway and the study guides that go with them. Sometimes the guides do not add much more than the video, but in this case you need to have the Contagious Faith guide. It has a lot of extra information to add to help in your personal study and for the group. I like the videos so much that I have a subscription to Study Gateway. So, I did not need to enter the code that was in the book. But even if you don't have a subscription, entering the code will get you access to this video series.
This study guide and video series is well worth it for a personal study, a couples study, and a church group study. You can more completely understand how we all function in spreading the gospel as the Body of Christ.

This is a 6 week study. Each week studies:
1- Your faith style, exploring spiritual giftedness (1 Corinthians 12). This includes a spiritual gifts self assessment test in the large group time
2- Initiating relationships & serving others (Col 4:5-6). This includes some role playing to practice starting a spiritual conversation.
3- Telling your testimony (1 John 1:3). This includes tips for writing it out and practicing telling it in the large group session.
4-Offering reasons for your faith (1 Peter 3:15). This includes some good answers to common comebacks by non-Christians, such as "How can a good God allow evil?" and "The Bible is full of myths" and "Why would a loving God send people to hell?".
5-Sharing the Gospel (Romans 1:16). This large group time includes learning a few evangelist tools such as the bridge diagram.
6- Partnering with others (1 Cor 3:5-6). This large group time includes some great encouragement and motivation to share the Word.

After the large group session, there are a series of darker colored pages for the personal "homework." This section is not broken up by day, but has three clear parts: study, practice and reflect.

This would be a good, very practical study to do with a group of Christians who are serious about wanting to learn to step out in faith and share the Gospel. Growing Christians who have not done this much, or at all. The study isn't overly deep, but it is very practical. If you're not willing to try the assignments (which almost all involve non-Christians) than you won't get near as much out of this study.

I was disappointed. I got started and was really excited to do this but it is geared towards a large study group. I am still going to read through it but you just don't get near as much out of it when you can't pu it through practical use.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product(What's this?)
This book is a great outline for running a small group focused on authentic witnessing. It covers some very basic ideas, but it does a good job of relating these principles to real life and makes a good case for more organic witnessing.

The group leader is given a lot of valuable information within the first few pages, such as not succumbing to the temptation of dominating the conversation, etc.

The videos are a great help, especially if someone is not used to leading a group. It takes the onus off of the leader and gives what he says more validity. This is a great help for those new to small groups.

The sad thing is the tendency to make things formulaic, when being witnesses for Christ is about following the leading of the Spirit and being obedient in the moment more than being trained in the specifics.

Still, I found a lot of information that would be interesting and helpful for those who are just starting out.
