In order to meet the learning needs of international students of China Medical University (CMU), especially to help the international students who have come to China for the first time in recent three years adapt to the campus learning environment as soon as possible and make full use of library teaching resources, CMU library arranged a special lecture on the library orientation for the international students at noon on April 20th in the hall on the second floor of the library, entitled "An Access to Library Resource, a Critical Step in Academic Life", given by Su Zhongqi, a library teacher, at the request of many international students at the International Education School of CMU. More than 50 international students who studied on new campus participated in the offline training, and more than 100 students watched it online by way of the DingTalk group broadcast.
At first, Mr. Su Zhongqi told the general information of our school library through promotional video, and then introduced the ways of entering the library and matters concerning paper book borrowing, distribution of collected documents, electronic reading, rules and regulations, etc. He also demonstrated the self-service procedures for borrowing and returning books, retrieval methods on library collection, self-service seat reservations, and the use of self-service printing equipment through the campus ID card. Mr. Su Zhongqi answered all the questions raised by the students one by one, and the on-site interaction was enthusiastic. Another teacher from the library distributed the library user manual to international students and suggested they participate actively in the following library activities.
This lecture has been highly recognized by international students. Through this lecture, they have gained an understanding of the modern functions and abundant collection resources of our school library, have expanded their horizons, and have learned how to do desultory reading. International Education School will continue to work together with the school library to make orientation activity for international students regular, enable the international students to use library resources effectively, let the library play a better role in the cultural dissemination, put its educational functions into a full play, and create better conditions for cultivating students' autonomous learning ability.
