SAN JOSE – Ticket sales for the San Jose Sharks’ Oct. 31 game against the Chicago Blackhawks are surging — as is demand for No. 71 jerseys – since the team announced the signing of Macklin Celebrini to an entry-level contract.

That’s what the president of Sharks Sports & Entertainment, Jonathan Becher, said on social media Saturday afternoon after Celebrini officially joined the professional ranks and signed a three-year deal with San Jose.

“Incredible demand for Celebrini jerseys,” Becher posted on his X account. “We just re-stocked several sizes.”

This news organization could not immediately confirm the news about Celebrini jerseys. An employee at the Sharks’ team store at SAP Center did not wish to comment.

The Sharks’ Oct. 31 game against the Blackhawks at SAP Center is slated to feature the No. 1 overall draft pick from the past two years, as center Connor Bedard went No. 1 overall to Chicago last year before San Jose took Celebrini with the top pick at last week’s draft in Las Vegas.

As of late Saturday afternoon, tickets for that game on Ticketmaster ranged from $30 to $131 before fees.

Celebrini’s and fellow top prospect Will Smith’s jerseys are available online and at the Sharks’ team store at SAP Center. Celebrini will wear No. 71 for the Sharks, and Smith is wearing No. 2.

The Sharks begin the regular season at home on Oct. 10 against the St. Louis Blues.
