Rose English Hello Bibiana thank you for stopping by. I am by no means a professional poet I simply write what I enjoy I am an old fashioned romantic and love mainly rhyming poetry. I would be very interested to know your thoughts. By the way I really loved your short story 'Flor Y Fuego' it made me feel like I was really there. I have just downloaded Carolina Spirit and look forward to reading that one too.

Rose English My idea for the book I am currently writing came about a year or so ago. I was flicking through several books when I came across pictures of a Grandfather Clock. I started to do a little research, then a little turned into a lot ( I kind of get carried away).

I was inquisitive to know when the Grandfather Clock got its name. The clocks were originally Longcase Clocks but it was not until 1876 when they began to be called Grandfather Clocks after 'Grandfathers Clock' was written by Henry Clay Work. He heard a wonderful story about a clock that stood in a Yorkshire hotel in the UK that stopped ticking when its owners died, or so it is believed. He was thus inspired to write the song which has been performed countless times.

First Verse

‘Grandfather’s Clock’ by Henry Clay Work 1876.

My grandfather's clock was too large for the shelf,
So it stood ninety years on the floor;
It was taller by half than the old man himself,
Though it weighed not a pennyweight more.
It was bought on the morn of the day that he was born,
And was always his treasure and pride;
But it stopp'd short-- never to go again--
When the old man died.

CHORUS
Ninety years without slumbering (tick, tick, tick, tick),
His life seconds numbering (tick, tick, tick, tick),
It stopp'd short-- never to go again--
When the old man died.
Rose English I am first & foremost a reader, some say I am a Read-a-holic forever with my head stuck in a book or my eyes are glued to my kindle. I am inspired by lots of books and also by the world around me.

Being a dreamer my mind is full of wonderment and it takes but a moment to jot any new ideas down. I try always to keep a little pocket book with me at all times. I also have a book by my bedside because my sleep time is often full of dreams and nightmares too.
Rose English After winning a short story, Holiday Competition with DigiWriting in December 2014 I have been inspired to turn the story 'The Magic of Grandfather Christmas' into a full length novel. I already have a very rough copy that I did during the 2014 NaNoWriMo. So I am frantically editing that.

The story is 'The Coldest Winter' Book 1 in 'The Magic of Grandfather Time Series'. It is under the genre Historical/Fiction/Fantasy.
