I did create this tale for the book. It doesn't exist anywhere in european or french folk tales, as far as I know.
Actually, the working title for this book was "Classe verte", which is the term for "green class" or "nature camp" in French. But when I wrote the tale of the bat, I changed the title to "The laws of the skies".
